Insurance for modified 4x4
Who has found the best company for modified 4x4?
My truck is fully engineered and has the best part of $50,000 spent on it, I just bought it for $10,500 yet NRMA insulted me by saying they would only insure me for $5,200....

I got 17 pages of hits when I did it.

Ah righto, well Just Car Insurance just gave me a quote with an agreed value of 10,000 the excess on an accident will be 600, and the yearly insurance which is fully comprehensive is 936, im pretty prepared to pay that.lump_a_charcoal wrote:DGA are good, but they aren't doing agreed value anymore for 4wds...

I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.
I got my Mav with Just Car for 13k agreed value. I think my insurance is about the same actually with similar excess - 2 accidents + under 25.Wozza244 wrote:Ah righto, well Just Car Insurance just gave me a quote with an agreed value of 10,000 the excess on an accident will be 600, and the yearly insurance which is fully comprehensive is 936, im pretty prepared to pay that.lump_a_charcoal wrote:DGA are good, but they aren't doing agreed value anymore for 4wds...

Okay setup really.
Edit: One thing I did notice, is that no one gives a crap about aftermarket mods. They base their agreed value almost entirely off the market value of the car, stock. I think NRMA wanted to insure me for $4500 and I laughed ... then promptly hung up.

but you have to have a classic car first
But i had a modified EF Faimont lowered body kit blahh blahh before,
Shannon won't insure you if you're not an "enthusiast"
But if you can get insurance with them they do purchase value
(what you tell them you paid!!!) with problem and agreed value with an inspection.
The wife's got rear ended and written off a while back and they paid full insured value without any problems.

I'm also with Shannons, I don't have a classic car, when I asked they said that as in the ads you just have to be a "motoring enthusiast" to insure with them, as a member of a 4wd club and owner of a modified 4wd that counted,v8zuki wrote:shannons covers my truck for aggreed value

98 100 series, Extra Cab conversion. 1HZ turboed and intercooled, engineered.
Agreed value 21000 came to about 750 per year, this includes a discount as I also have 2 other policies with them.
Oh and 26yo, no accidents.
forget NRMA, GIO etc, I was with Just Car on an agreed value, they also agreed on a value for aftermarket wheels and tyres, you can specify other aftermarket accessories to I think.
They dropped the insured value every year quite a bit, to the point where I dropped the policy.
Shannons told me the same as others, if you are in a club it counts as an enthusiast.
whats your driving record like? how old? can make it expensive or big excesses.

I had my xr6 turbo ute and still have my patrol insured with shannons, i wrote the xr6 off and they were awesome to deal with, no hassles. Im only 21 and they were the cheapest by about a grand compared to racv and aami and just carstas80 wrote:I'm also with Shannons, I don't have a classic car, when I asked they said that as in the ads you just have to be a "motoring enthusiast" to insure with them, as a member of a 4wd club and owner of a modified 4wd that counted,v8zuki wrote:shannons covers my truck for aggreed value

They paid out $14,000 for my 94 4Runner. It had the V8 and SAS etc, but wasn't the most bling looking thing when the inspector came (old 31's on it, no barwork.) The market value was about $7k then....lump_a_charcoal wrote:DGA are good, but they aren't doing agreed value anymore for 4wds...
They adjust the value according to what is fitted to the vehicle.

One vote here for Elders.
My monthly fee didn't go up for that long I ended up going into their office to make sure I was in fact still insured (~3 yrs). They said "Yep, all good.." Seemto know a lot about mods to vehicles as they do a lot of farming machinery insurance.
Never been a given any grief with any of the mods, as long as they know about it, it's insured (stated on insurance schedule).

Wow, now thats more like it. To get that agreed value your truck must be somewhere the same as mine with heaps of mods.SCANAS wrote:Lumley insurance
