Oil for my airlockers
Had a quik search came up with nothing, i have 8 litres of 80/90 nulon diff oil sittin in shed, will it be ok for the 60 series with arb lockers?

Hey I know this sounds crazy but have you thought for a moment it might be an idea to call ARB and ask? That is unless you're happy to just wait in the hope that someone stumbles upon this thread that can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that 80w90 will be fine.
Best you'll get is: "I've been using 80w90 in my xxxxx for x years with no problems." And that's not really any better than my "probably".

But hey this is a forum, and is for learning from others experience, which is what i was after, so before you try and flame me for asking for other members experience with this oil or tell me i should do something i have already done, dont.

All you said in your original post was that you did a search and came up with nothing. Sounded like thats all the info you had....zip. No mention of any advice you had been given thus far. I didn't flame you bud, I merely suggested (given, somewhat facetiously) that you ring up and ask specifically about using 80w90. That's just what I would do. Instead of asking them "what oil should I use" ask them "can I use 80w90". That's really what you want to know isn't it? If they outright say "no" then don't use it, buy some 140 and keep the 80w90 for the box and transfer. If they say "yes" then dance a jig or rub one out and use it.

ARB have guidelines for different viscosities of oil to be used for each different application with the air lockers.
The specs that come from the factory are'nt *ALWAYS* the only ways to do it out in the paddock.
People that think outside the box and try different things were the kind i was hoping would give their opinion here, if people hav used 80/90 and it has worked, hell i will give it a try! If not i would have gone with what ARB said firtsly. Simple....

its not rocket science. Mainly town work short trips,etc use 80/90 . for long distance, esp towing, use 80/140.
slow 4x4 work isnt really that extreme on a diff. its all moving slow with pressure. if too much pressure it just breaks.
harder the work the thicker the oil. IF i had a 100% tow rig id be looking for some straight 140 or similiar.
I usually just run moreys in the front diff as its so thick it wont go past axle seals when they start to leak.
Yes im wrong by the book, but this rough guide works for farmers and real bushies who have seen first hand what the wrong oil can do.
