It looks good (38's would look better) but i'd hate to be responsible for your fuel bill, or the wear and tear of your vehicle!

i'm already running 35" toyos and they weigh more than the 40" super swampers, so fuel and wear are things i don't worry about too much anymore.

Looks awesome........................
The rear axles should be ok but I hope you have some spare CV's, tie rods, steering arms & idler arms if you plan to do some serious offroad work with those bad boys.

I won't be running 40's, I was just testing to see hoe 38's would fit. I'm thinking 37 or 38 will be perfect.

You can lift it a lot without a body lift, I think i have 1/4" clearance between the body and the little emmisions thingys on top of the tank

Hey toastmaster,
Can you post some pics of your raised fuel tank and relocated mounts etc
I have a 1991 NH SWB with 2" suspension and 2" body running 33's and fuel tank always getting hit!!! Is it a weekend job or a day job???

Yeah had a look today... dont know if its just the swb but the mounts dont look easy to relocate... do you have to cut and re-weld or is it a bolts and spanners job!

The SWB tank won't go above the rails unles it is a reallly really big lift and the whole tank is wider at the bottom than the top, hence it has to sit below. have a look through the gap above you rear wheel and you will see what I mean.

I did one on a SWB with a 3" body lift, just cut the rear section of the frame and moved it up. that section of frame didn't have the body lift pucks, i might have pics of that somewhere. I did take pictures of mine but i haven't hosted them yet.

The LWB tank won't fit the shorty - if it would, Mitsubishi would've done it. The shorty has a smaller tank because there's not as much space behind the rear axle.

I had Brown-Davis customise their 105L long range tank to suit my 2" body lift (a whole 15L more! ). They also (told me they) built a double-layer bottom on the tank, although I can't see two layers, and haven't tried to measure it.

I'd be surprised if they wouldn't relocate the mounts down, so you get a 105l tank + clearance.

Brown-Davis don't have the best reputation for reliability, but I have had no issues with mine - other than one fitting they supplied wouldn't install (elbow fitting needed to screw into a hole next to the filler - the filler was in the way  ) but a quick trip to Enzed fixed that problem.

don montero.... 4wks ago before i left nz there was a wrecker that had a lwb paj with 5.29 gears in it. the shiping costs would probly end up with it being cheaper getting them made locally to you at a gearmaker, but the option is there. he also had a 4.8 fact locker in another. google "motex parts world" in wingate, lower hutt, wellington. if you get in contact with them, ask for Tui. pronounced "Too ee". both diffs were in lwbs.
