Shock options

Post by ZUKPOWER »

Hi guys,
I have recently RUF'd my 92 sierra and lengthened the rear to fit Feroza leaves and now I'm after shocks. I haven't managed to flex it up to take measurements yet as im still chasing some u bolts (anyone know a good place to buy u bolts in Newcastle?) but I have no idea what shocks I should be looking at, or what I should be looking for?
Any suggestions or experiences?

Out of Town, Arb, Newcastle hi-tensile and KC Harris will all have U bolts. surely one of them should be able to sort you out.

Cheers for that. I've already tried Newcastle Hi-Tensile with no luck. I'll give the rest a call on Monday

You can buy the shocks and U-bolts from Ironman Suspension.

I am not sure exactly how much lift i have but it is SPOA with extended shackles i think. Not sure if it has RUF but my front shocks are from the rear of a suzuki swift. The rear shocks are GQ lifted ones but i have inverted them. Have pretty good travel.

Thanks Dominator, your zuk is pretty similiar to what mine will end up like.

I'll add a bit more information which may help my cause.
- It's a 92 SWB Sierra ute with SPOA WT Sierra diffs.
- RUF
- Daihatsu Feroza leaves in the rear.
- Standard Sierra shackles all round.
- I can fab up shock towers for the front to suit the length of the shocks
- Since the rear of the body has been chopped into a ute shock length is no issue as I can make a new chassis cross member to suit
- I'd rather spend the money once and get something the right length for my flex (yet to be measured) and valved correctly for a Sierra then use shocks from different vehicles (I'm sure people have had great success mixing and matching but I would like to get this right the first time)

How much do you want to spend ?

I run Doestech 3000 shocks in the front of mine, they are valved perfectly to suit my needs and have lasted quite well for $75 each delivered.

I would be talking to shane from suspension stuff on this forum. He would be able to sort you out.
