hi lads
ok some info,
iv got a slightly worked 5.0l in my GU with HSV headers and a 3 inch exhaust.
running standed nissan 5 speed with TB45 slave and master cylinder.
now i only live 5 mins from work so i dont experience this all the time, but after lots of stop start traffic and long drives the clutch pedal goes from being smooth to jerky/sticky and hence makes gear changes(mainly from stopped to takingof in first gear) abit awkward!
now im assuming this is becasue the the headers merge right next to(im talking 20mm away) from the slave cylinder and thus producing to much heat for it to operate/work correctly..?
has anyone else had this problem?
i probably should have made a heat shield to start with but i got lazy and didnt think it would be an issue..
might make one tomorrow but would be good to know if it will fix the problem
thanks

i had the same thing with my old GQ, TD42 with after market turbo, around town was sweet, but throw a trailer on it, and it became an issue, sticky then would just drop to the floor and have no pedal, i used header wrap, as i was away and put it on on while at the camp ground, prob gone after that. ,
but id make a shield for it and see how you go,

many moons ago(bout 10 years) my cousin had the same problem with he's worked turbo diesel duel cab GQ, and thats what got me thinking it could be exhaust heat related!
might try heat wrap and a sheild!

sorry to bring this thread back up, but last week i finally made a heat shield up and even wrapped some heat tape round where i could just for good measure.
now just got back from a surfing trip up to trechery and the clutch pedal is still sticky down near the floor once the car has run for 10mins of so and then stays the same..
iv only realy got 2 other idears and thats-
5.0l running hotter in the engine bay then tb45 and heating the clutch master cylinder
or
the bell houseing adapter producing to much heat and trapping it in generating the sticky pedal somehow..
i have searched through a couple of old posts of similar problems and one guy sprayed wd(or something similer) down the clutch boot in the cab and fixed it!
have any guys with gq5.0l manuals had this problem?
and other ideas lads would be great
