As my ute is just about sold
I'm looking at putting an atlas in the 80 with a 4l80E auto behind the L98 6ltr
I'm looking at a Atlas 2 Speed Transfer Case (3.0:1 Low Range)
What are people's thoughts about the atlas in an every day car
Or what else would people use ??
Soon as the I have the money I'll be shoping for parts
Cheers Dan

Ok my thoughts.
Atlas is a great move. But i would be thinking a bit more about the gearing of it. 3.1 isnt really that great and with the 4l auto it would be better then a croozer or troll but would be on par with a rangie in gearing. Depending on diffs you will run or might run i would be thinking more towards a 4.3.1 or even the 3 speed atlas.
Edit: As far as transfers go there are others out there but nothing with the proven reliability of the atlas. I have read on pirate that they have had problems with the Stak cases and a lovells is reliant on air to shift in or out.

From what I understand the 3.0 : 1 wil be lower than standard
I dont want it to be a super crawler just a good allrounder
The auto should pick up the differance
Just after thoughts on reliability as an everyday car
Cheers Dan

From the guys I know running an Atlas in their Jeeps, they all mention that there's a bit of gear whine but a litte bit more noise is the last of the worries in a Jeep.
Not sure if the gears are straight cut and if so, that might be the cause of the gear noise.

I'm not very good looking, so I guess I better be useful . . .
And in terms of reliability, no-one has had any issues but most aren't daily driving. The cases are bullet-proof.
A lot of guys are looking at the 4 spd versions as the extra cost isn't significant. Unfortunately IMO none of the ratio options are perfect (STAK 3 spd seem to have better spread of ratios) but generally 2 of the 3 low ratios are ok.
