GQ SHORT SIDE AXLE STUCK, ANY IDEAS?

Post by KYSI »

Heys guys pulled my diff out coz i bent the housing, I have stripped everything down its a bare housing with a centre in it and a drivers side axle. The drama is i cannot get the axle out i have undone the centre and wiggled it around trying to free it up but nothing still, The axle and cv have seperated and the clip isnt holding the cv onto the axle so the only leverage i got is with a pair of vice grips.
The Axle itself is free spinning and im pretty sure its not the bent housing stopping it coming out. It does not want to move in or out at all so was thinking maybe there is a burr on the lip of the axle?? its a cal axle so dont really wanna cut it in half if i can help it.... any ideas???

If the front diff center is open, ie no spacer block fitted you could use a rod and tap it through from the other side,

or tap the axle back into the housing to try to free it up, other than that, use a slid hammer and a jig to mount it to the axle.

I had to cut my front diff housing tube in half to remove a axel
after I bent it

But my axel would not spin at all by hand

It was bent on the passenger side at the thin bit of tube diff side of swivel
hub

I used a 100mm grinder and only cut just through the tube as not to nick the
axel.
