"At the FWDVic meeting last night it was talked about and apparently you need an engineers cert for any body lift no matter how high."

I was told that I needed one for mine (2") and when I went through the process ofgetting it, he wasn't even concerned with the body lift - spent more time worrying about the fact that my rear guards were about 2mm higher off the ground than they should have been (I should have just been smart and let some air out of the rear tyres!) and he wanted the contact details for the engineers out at ARB because he didn't believe that their winchbar cconformed . . .

Can you get bodylifts approved in QLD? I have to get a mod plate for my turbo conversion soon, would it be possible to add the 3" bodylift to that?

3 inch body lift is not allowed in qld.

2 inch yes.. but whether engineers approval is required - not sure. Thou I know of terrafirma gettin defected for his body lift and had to get it approved. so Yes problably.

BTW 3 inch body lifts not worth the dramas. Ask Wendle

2" is the max body lift in Queensland, and it must be inspected and approved by Qld Transport - not an "approved person."

The permit actually says 50mm max, the blocks must be metal, the bolts grade 8.8, nuts must have locking device?

Bugger, I've been running around with 3" bodylift for probably 5 years now, and no cops have said anything yet. The whole lot is adjutsbale back down to 2" if need be so I'd only need 50mm alloy blocks (I've got nylon at the moment) and shorter bolts and it'd be fine. The bullbar just slides back down. Radiator has only been lowered 2" and gear stick extended 2".

Wonder why Qld. wont allow 3" when other states do? I reckon 3" should be the limit but, unless some additional bracing or mounts are added.

We've been here b4 with this. Check the FAQ.

There is a number of articles relating to body lift in all states and what you have to do to engineer them.

At the meeting Alison (from Aus 4WD) said she had 3" body lift with 3" suspension lift and 35" muddies, all engineered and insured!! Prob should give Aus4wd a ring if you need more info.

2 inch used to be aloud in NSW, but theve changed the rules again which is i nucence as i never had mine engineered for the lift as i did it before the change, so technically i should engineer it, though it makes no difference as i have to engineer the SOA and recaro buckets as well.

Dunno about that one, but the engineers ive spoken to wrecken that cause u have to change the mounts to the floor of any car they are fitted to they need to be engineered. I may be wrong but then again, a mate got done when wanting a blue slip and he had Recaro's...

If the manufacturer has had the seats and bases engineered to suit that model of vehicle you should be right.

HDPE hadn't been passed by anyone because no-one bothered it seems.

Getting an alloy place to cut you up some blocks in 2" should be about $100 or so, dependant on diameter of said blocks.

There's pretty reasonable safety reasons for not allowing 3"...

Anyway what are you worried about - if you have 3" body lift your tyres are probably illegally large to need 3" body lift anyway
