Mate i am famous for spelling and grammer errors and was advised by 2 key people in the loop who looked over it to get a little more direct with my letter and to state a date i wished for a reply back. Abrupt or however you want to explain it. I went via a similar route last truck with the auto issue so think we should be ok.

I certainly have mentioned i will give them bad press......

This is one paragrah of 5 in the lettter.

While any help will be appreciated I can safely say that anything less than 100% contribution from Nissan Australia to fix the car then it will simply not be good enough. An ongoing problem that Nissan has clearly not done enough to rectify. We made extended warranty choice’s on the basis that the motor issues were fixed. If we were advised they were still cracking pistons then we may have purchased. I don’t believe with anything less than this that the boss be keen to buy another Nissan for me or any other company staff. Feedback that Nissan will pay for parts while appreciated the decision to not pay for labour or a turbo check I feel is a COP OUT.(Approx $2000 My Price, Nissan’s Possibly $1000-$1500) Why pay for ¾ of an admitted problem and risk leaving a sour taste in our mouths risking future sales and potentially bad press to every farm in QLD & Nt and forums alike. It does not make sense.
reading that, and similar things others have written to them, they wont care (their price would be way less than 1000)... I'll be suprised if they do, I was when the dude won at Vcat recently

gday
ive been following this thread over the last couple of days with great interest
as an ex-employee of a nissan dealer i can tell you from my experiance ive never seen nissan pay for labour,
there standard line is usually 50-50 on parts and labour which is usually about $7-8k but if you kick and scream they usually put it to they pay parts and you pay labour which is about $2-3k
and for for nissan having fixed the problem they havent they thought they have but i know first hand of a 2008 3.0lt blowing 2 pistons a turbo and pumping oil through the intercooler this happend about april this year

good luck and keep up the good fight
cheers

p.s oh yeah nissan have two ways of fixing the problem they either do a full pull down (new pistons, conrods and crank, machined head new seals all round etc) and a new long motor
now some dealers are dodgy and will say that you cant get a new long motor so you have to pay a lot more for labour doing a compete pull down
so if you do go ahead with it with nissan paying for parts, demand a brand new crate motor

I too have been watching this thread with great interest. You stick it to them Bingham, well done. Your success needs to be spread far and wide to help others down the track.

I am stunned to know that they have not fixed this problem. A problem so obvious that there is absolutley no denying it and a problem so costly that it really impacts people.

What makes me laugh is all the Nissan supporters who questioned the 3 litre grenading problem whenever it was raised claiming that it was all hearsay or that the problem had been fixed. Where are those loud mouths now?

Cheers guys, I am keen to rip it into them in any case as it means i can get another one firstly and it keeps my boss off my back which trust me can be a handful... And i dont like loosing battles especially when i am in the right..and i dont like people being shite on by any corporates in any scenario..

but as said no chance now that i would not get extended warranty!!! this would get next truck prob (09mod bought say in 12 months to 170 000 then sell).

The section of my letter i put up possibly seems a bit harsh / strange without reading the whole letter but i just want to keep a little under wraps till it is sorted and i drive away...

Cant remember if i said that all work done comes with a 20 000 / 12 months warranty... which 20 000 for me is fark all but really hope for no more issues with this beast.... anyone want to buy it at 160 000km? Sell it to a rich doctor who wants a camping car like the last one. :D

if anyone wants to post the pics of the pistons for me i can email also but possibly in no major rush to make this happen either.

If they had said as per others comments they would pay 50% i would literally be instore tomoz morning with a picket sign chasing customers out i feel that strongly about it.

Sounds like a big clear out at nissan national got rid of some of the helpful names from the past. 10 or so people axed with one of the key ones who has helped a few on o/l may even be taking them to court over something having been with nissan for many many years....

yes its not my money but its the principal.... I'll back myself for a win and hope to show the non believers :D

thats not the worst ive seen
2 of the ones that came into the workshop at my nissan dealer pop into mind
1 had a hole burnt straight through the piston about the size of a 5 cent piece ( he had the gas injection crap, running really rich and on of the gas injectors became jammed open and dump a lot of gas, which made it run extreamly rich blowing lots of smoke etc.)

and another where a conrod had shattered and split, the piston was jammed in the cylinder at tdc, and they found the gudgen pin and part of the conrod in the sump

ill try and find the pics i have of them its a real eye opener

Bingham
nissan australia has laid off alot of staff recently, they have downsized every department there , 2 of which where the axe fell the hardest was customer relations and warranty

but keep on them or just wait till the new patrol comes out
almost said that with a straight face

mate that is some serious pics...Seems i was not trying hard enough :!:

as for old mate in his 06, he welll to get that many kms i would say and has about -30%chance of getting anything from nissan i would suspect..
his car has cheap buy and 6L conversion written allover it! :D

still no word on dollars to look over my turbo, or response from nissan to my letter but have there phone number now so shall be chasing them this arv or tomorrow.

been thinking and going to highly recomend we sell my truck at end of 20 000 kms which parts are covered by warranty and sell at 125000. not worth keeping till 160 000 out of warranty. Pain in the ass changing all the bits over but if something happened again and def no chance of warranty/goodwill then would not be worth listening to the boss... shall be putting it to him in a persuasive way!...

Ps currently driving my cousins 4.2 denco'd gu dual cab and supprisingly it has not blown up :?: :D :D

I'd sell it the day you get it back... One bloke in my club traded his in sight unseen while the engine was being rebuilt.. The nissan people watched and waved to him as he drove up the road after the new engine went in, then he turned left into Yota dealer 2 doors down.. The 100 series was ready to go (Fully kitted for touring!). which he just traded 4 weeks ago on a 76 series (which his wife hates!)

again i aggree with you but any new truck must have under 35000kms and prob under 45 k incl gst and to get cruiser for that is near impossible... current one was 38+gst had 30 000km 2' bullbar snorkel tbar in perfect nick.

if i choose depending on the outcome it will be either 08/09 gu 3 L auto with tripple extended warranty :bad-words: or prado diesel which is a bit hairdresserish for me

first one was gearbox not technically grenade :D from my end i dont think there is many full size 4wd wagons to choose from...??? factor i am 6ft 6 and like room to move and room for all the getup while still having some capabilities offroad while semi standard..... whilst having re-sale etc. if under warranty then i have no issues's.. even if it was my own i still potentially would get one if could not fins 4.2t but would not own it 1 day outt of warranty after this fiasko... end of story...

So wipe the more expensive wagons then wipe the hairdressors and latte mum bus's and you have fark all to choose from really.... open to suggestions...

maybe i should just get a san yong  :D

Seriously, go and take a D40 Navara for a test drive. Heaps of legroom, headroom, etcroom. Nice to drive and really good on juice. And they go like s--t out of a shanghai on boost if you want to push them. I reckon they're a great compromise if you don't need to get to really tough places and would suit rep work to a tee.

I went from a GU DX to the STX Navara and it really suits my needs a lot better. If you need a wagon, look at the Pathfinder.

mate dont want a dual cab. i have a trailer for anything needing to be carried.. but i have recently driven a housemates navara the 2.5 turbo etc etc... yes they go on boost but turbo lag is discusting and to tight for room leg and head... without knowing the pricing if it was to be a dual cab which it wont be it would be a lux they are the only one i class as comfy and roomy... i appreciate your thoughts in anycase. each to their own.

just spoke with nissan australia and they very shy and wont even give names out....... for fear possibly for being sacked if to many pass their name about for being handy and helpful to customers  which is potnentially what got a few the sack in the past... if i was a betting man! seems not much useful will come but i have specifically reqested a written reply for my boss and potnentially the front page of the newspaper.... they suggested after my 06 blew up that its unusual  and that nissan had already stated its case.... I said well you had not fully stated your case and sales men australia wide incorrectly stated the ability of the 3.0L patrol by suggesting it was fixed.... which it clearly is not....

would love to yarn to these folks in person.... does not have the same vibe on phone,...

also they advised the turbo will just be cleaned, flushed and checked over in house (which should keep cost down) and i should be on the road friday arv....

The Prado might be better than you think. I like the pathfinders too, but fair enough if you don't like them.

Personally I feel any Patrol would be a bit of overkill for repping in. It's just more steel than you reall need.

We have reviewed this matter as requested, and advise that as you are not the vehicle owner, we are unable to address the vehicle-specific issues you raise. Should the vehicle owner wish to discuss these issues, they are welcome to contact Nissan directly.

They have been happy to deal with me the whole way with thousands in parts donated to me as some random of the street who adopted a blown 4wd and are more than happy for me to pay the bill but dont try email them :bad-words: My boss has since emailed suggesting i have full authority on the vehicle.... no response to date that i have seen.. This is after mind you i called yesterday and discussed the email on the phone which was fine.. :x

Its a god dam email.............
