6inch verses 4inch lift

This may sound stupid but Im hoping I can get some constructive answers
my rig runs a 4 inch spring lift at the moument with a 5 link front end at the moument at full articulation the front springs can fully conpress if i was to change to a 6 inch lift how much extra articulation would i get out of the set up .Take into acount that 6 inch springs have more coils so they dont compress as high i dont need extra lift as i am running a 3and 1/4 body lift and 35 inch centapieds base this on springs of the same diameter any info would be great

from my understanding taller springs do not necasarily give more travel, but im probably wrong.

if you are satisfied with travel and have enough clearence then i cant see any point in going taller.

Tip less lift with bigger tyre is the trend....get the cog low....

I am guessing you wil have less uptravel as you mentioned more coil density so they don't compress as much.

Downtravel - well they might help you have .5kg extra downforce on the wheel at full droop :) I guess the longer spring will be trying to push the drooping wheel down for slightly longer but I don't know if it will make any difference in the real world.

all depends on the rate of the springs as well.

I wouldn't personally bother swapping due to a raised COG, I would be looking at tweaking what is already there.

try and work out where any binding in the suspension is.
disconnect the shocks and ramp it. if it is the shocks replace them.
if not check all the links, arms etc.

6" coils on your rig will bind about 25mm before the bumpstop hits on the front and about 45mm on the back..
