Idle issues.

Post by peanut »

Ok I own a NK pajero with the 3.5 l V6. It developed an issue with its idle a few days ago, when you start it, all good, while you drive it, you take your foot off the accelerater and the revs just drop away to nothing.

Replaced the idle control motor, still ran like a pig. After it had cooled down gave it another run ran like a dream till I stopped it and then tried to restart it, then same issue.

It is on gas and petrol that this issue is present so that rules out the injectors. While it was running sweet I unplugged the airflow meter and it ran like it does when its being a pig but then ran normally when I plugged it back in.

Any ideas?
If only I could stand on a street corner with a hat so all the big people could throw there wasted time in...

Hi mate, Was gunna call ya peanut, but thought you might take offense.
Anyway, for the meanetime try turning up the idle screw a little bit, just till the revs go up slightly. I've had to do this to mine cause i had the exact same problems. the onle noticeable change was when the motor is cold the idol is up around 1100-1200RPM. But settles down once the motor warms up.
All the best finding the problem, please let us know how ya go.
