MQ LSD rear into GQ front (I remember now)

Post by DR Frankenstine »

I have done this conversion.

You need to remove the MQ crown wheel of it's lsd hemisphere and fit the GQ crownwheel to it. All you need to do is re-drill the holes in the hemisphere to suit the GQ crownwheel. I had an engineer do it because the holes are slighty missaligned and the GQ bolts are larger. you will see what I mean when you mate the crownwheel up to the hemisphere.
It's a worthwhile conversion.

Later MK rear diffs are H233B - it means they are with 12mm bolts all ready - no drilling needed

You do this to get an LSD in the front.
An MQ/K rear diff hemisphere is the same as a gq front so strength isn't the issue. You are only using the hemisphere noth the whole centre. you retain the GQ pinion and crownwheel.

I don't believe really what GQ front is much stronger
GQ front is mostly with 2 spiders - MK rear LSD is with 4 spiders
