Its not a kit. Its no more of a kit than the stock mounts are. A kit bolts an engine into a specific vehicle. Those mounts are universal and will need as much fabrication to fit to most vehicles as if you were using the stock mounts.Rory wrote:thats a fair price i think, iv seen ppl buy kits for $550 and think that was a deal...
If i were to do a conversion id use this anyday
Also in my opinion and experiance those polly bushes are to far out from the block and when used in a 4wd are likely to pull the bolts out of the block. On an alloy block i would be mounting those bushes as close as possible to the block.
Hi all,
Thanks for the feedback on my mounts, be it good or bad. I feel it’s always good to get feedback on stuff you have built as it fine tunes the design.
I see your point Ruff about the bush needing to be tighter to the block in a 4x4 application. I will take that on board.
But in all fairness these were originally designed for a 2wd Ute that I did a while back and the customer wanted a custom looking engine mount and this was the outcome. On that job a new gearbox cross member was made up as the Ute had air bag suspension so it had to sit above the bottom of the rails, but that is not the case with a 4x4.
As for price I could mig weld them which in turn would reduce the amount of time I have to spend making them and hence reducing the price. Personally I like the tig look myself as it’s a smaller and nicer looking weld.
Anyway after talking to Mitch the other night he thought it would be a good idea to post them up on here and see what people's thought's on them being used in a 4x4 application.
Thanks again for all your feedback and I'll take this on board and fine tune my design to suit a 4x4 application.
And yes Ice there is 5 tabs in the pick, and their only meant to be 4. Good pick up.
