4.88 Centres, price and performance?

Post by Zookified »

Hey all,

I have a set of Open 4.88 diff centers sitting in the shed. If I put these into my lux that has 4.3 in it at the moment will I notice much of a change in road speed compared to revs and when wheeling aswell? Or will there not be much in it...

And what would these be worth if I was to sell them?

Cheers

They are worth $200+ each if they are in good condition.

If you want a bit more acceleration and you dont mind it revving a little higher on the highway. DO IT ;)

what size tyres are you running?

I'm running 33 muddies at the moment. Im thinknig about selling them and put the money towards some transfer gears though.

I put a new gearbox in a while ago which was out of a 4y petrol. The ratios are alot taller so my gearing is way up the shit now. 60km/h actual road speed reads just over 40 on my speedo  The 4.8s might bring it back a bit in high range but I am thinking transfer gears will sort me out for low range.

I would stick with the 4.3 ratios and go reduction gears. IMO 33" tyres and 4.3 diffs is the perfect combo for the 2.8D

I changed to 4.56 diffs and my highway economy went up the shit.

Yer it puts the revs to high on the highway hey, I found that the 2.8D has its best torque around 2700rpm which is rite where you will sit on 110km/hr with 33's and 4.3 diffs.
