3RZ Limiter

Post by 404HZS »

I am doing a conversion in my surf from the uninspiring 2LT to 3RZ+T and will be running an EMS 4424 ecu to control the whole show.
It will be running a GT3076R (.63 rear) with 550cc injectors.
What i want to know is what is the standard rev limiter on these motors?
I have been told to set it @ 7000rpm but thought factory was around 6000?

Cheers.

 7grand  who told ya that?? hahaha, they vary with readings between 5800-6200rpm limiter, between certain brands of gauges. Depending on you xact application and what you want from it, think wisely with ya turbo choise, and i would be thinking about dropping the limiter unless ya building something bulk.

Revs is the one thing which will kill the 3rz with a turbo fitted, the rods cant handle much more then the factory limit of about 5500rpm. Unless you fit forged rods u really are playing russian roulette, if a rod lets go at 6-7000rpm theres nothin to salvage and ur alt or ac will probably go flying out thru the quarter panel lol.

Very nice choice in turbo to, with the .63 housing tho you will probably hav little gain if any in upping the rev limit also. Blokes with turbo 3RZ's in the lowluxes usually go for higher revs but most of them use a larger GT35 series or similar

iv seen what a rod letting go in a 3rz does lol isnt nice, with ur turbo choice it will pull like a train to 5500-6000rpm, and thats plenty of useable revs, normally time to pull another gear for more gains anyway.

sweet guys, yeah i knew 7K was way to high for these motors.
the 4424 allows me to tune the settings so easily. just plug the laptop in open the software and punch in the numbers. limiter can be changed in less than a minute
I'll start with 5500rpm and go from there. this motor wont be having forgies in it.......yet :D Would love to put some spool rods & JE pistons into it but budget wont stretch that far. :x
