Bumpstop spacing, how far between rubber and bottom perch?
as above, what is the general distance required between the top rubber bumpstop and the bottom coil perch?
yeah its a hilux, ive done a tri 4 link with coils in the back and at the moment there is f/ all clearance between bumpstop and bottom coil perch (at normal ride height) because ive had to extend bumpstops. Im just worried that atm the bump stops will hit the perch in normal driving conditions if that makes any sense to you.
yeah its the bottom links that hit on the chassis that is the reason for the bumpstop exension. bearing in mind that they are only standard height coils in there at the moment, if i was to buy 2-3in raised coils this would give a much bigger distance between bumpstop and perch, my question is how much is distance is neccessary between the 2 that it isnt going to bottom out onto the stops all the time while driving around otherwise there is s#itloads more work to do to move the bottom links in more to miss the chassis which i dont really want to do
Depends on how hard or soft your suspension is , probably need at least 50mm to allow for some bottoming of the suspension , but you need to flex it up and see what spacing you have and the position of the bumpstop with the new setup in relation to where it contacts the diff , Cheers Paul.
