Side wall repairs....

Post by twocs »

Just got a slash repaired on a tyre. Thought it was illegal to repair side walls but was assured it's not. Have the laws changed or what ?

I got it repaired to save me buying a new one. I'm not complaining, just asking a simple question. Have the laws changed ? Is it legal ? Simple questions I thought....

Dont know why these guys are being dicks. I think its a legitamate question and could do without the wanker responses.

I believe sidewall repairs can be done, but they cannot be repaird by plugging them. The dammage must be vulcanised and they are generally not done at tyre fitter places, rather specialty tyre and wheel repairers etc.

How was your tyre repaired?

You can do sidewall repairs to a certain extent, it is not illegal and does need to be vulcanised as stated previously, there are guidelines set to the intensity of the rapair, ie. the total distance of cut may be 10mm within certain part of the sidewall with a certain patch, consult a tyre repair joint such as beaurepairs they should know

Cheers

Yea thanks mate. It was vulcanised and sent off. The repair looks ok. Time will tell I guess...
