removing shackles help

Post by smuggler »

FITTING EXTENDED SHACKLES.

Can someone tell me the trick to removing the standard shackles from the FRONT LEAF SPRINGS of my 1985 4runner p l e a s e?

I have removed the torsion bar from the diff and taken the weight by jacking the chassis up until the shackle is vertical then hit the bolt hard with a lump hammer. It didn’t move.

You have weight on the shackle with your jack now. Play around with it until you find the sweet spot.

Jack it down again and then while you jack up hit it, it will pop out when you find the sweet spot.
