tb42 low oil pressure

Post by rob_rover »

havent started me petrol gq in a few months and when i started it up had no oil pressure to start with then, just warmed it up on about 1100 rpm for a few minutes and the oil pressure slowly built up just past one then few minutes later dropped to zero, shut it off, waited few minutes and started it again but still zero pressure.

what oil pressure should i have?

could be bad connection or oil pressure switch or gauge?

please help cheers rob

On idle mine sits just over 2 then under load it's normally on 4, gets oil presure with a couple of seconds of start up. Your gauge could be faulty try a aftermarket one as mentioned.

the sender units crap themselves, they are not known to be reliable.
change the sender first
then change the oil filter

is the engine noisy

My friend also did encounter the same problem with yours. Lucky for you that the only problem is the gauge while for my friend was asked by a mechanic that he would have to replace the oil pressure switch and gauge. He chose an electric gauge. It's quite expensive but at least it's working fine now.
