Try David Wale of Black Mamba Racing Components 03 97935555. I know he recently rebuilt a Haf engine for an owner in Sydney.

If you join the yahoo group for haflinger owners, http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Haflinger/ There is a database of some interchangeable parts.

The complete part number list for every haflinger nut and bolt is online via a coupel of sites. (I can dig out a link if you need it)

And Haflingertechnik iin Scotland have an online price list for all sorts of NOS and reproduction parts. http://www.haflingertechnik.com I just ordered a bunch of bits for brakes and lights. Our dollar is good against the pound at the moment but air freight is still air freight....

i just ordered a full gasket kit from the uk, still on its way, im going to one day do the same thing, i have a spare engine so i can rebuild it on the side one day.
most rings and bearings are available.
not many if any vw parts are interchangeable as far as i know.
best bet to buy a service manual if you havent already got one, they are pretty detailed.
Chop it drop it and big block it.
