whats the best portable(not vehicle mounted) 12 volt compressor on the market?ive been looking at the tjm and the arb ones, thanks
what sort of use will it get?
if only lowish pressure ie pumping up tires, then a cheaper one like projecta typhoon works well. however it does need some modding otherwise it heats the hell out of the air hose.
its a whole lot faster then the ARB etc. however i would not use it for above 60psi, the heat tends to kill them rather quickly.

4x4 action did a mega air compressor comparo some time ago. see if you can look it up on there site and the questions will be there for sure.
GQ TD42, MTQ Turbo, Frozen Boost IC, Flexi 5", Drop boxes, Locked both ends, Superiors everything. Custom rear bar, sliders, Hi Mount, Plasma. TOY. GU IV TD42T Tourer stock with a list.
main use will be from 18psi-30psi,occasionally up to 60psi on the trailer.tweak'e wrote:what sort of use will it get?

it has a very small restriction where the normall outlet is. so removed that, fitted an adaptor which i drilled out a couple of sizes. fitted a bit of brass pipe and a bit of flexy. chopped the restriction off the stock hose fitting and fitted it back on the end.
thats simply to cut down on the heat that was nearly melting the hose coupling. before the pump was warm and the hose coupling nearly burnt your hand. now it only get to warm and probably pumps up faster to.
the dodgy fuse holder was binned. 40amp(?) fuse with 10amp connectors, half arse soldered ! mines wired in permanently.
i havn't timed it but it pumped from 20psi to 60psi in the time it took me to check the pressure in the other tire, lower it a bit and fit the cap back on.
