I want to have a go at DIY onboard air for a 91 gq safari. I know the theory of using your a/c but not really sure of the process.
Does anyone know of any good info to get started?
Maybe tips and tricks of stuff that you can only learn after doing it.
I've found a few bits and peices online but was hoping to have a good plan before I start ripping everything to bits.

Onboard Air
I got as far as half making the brackets and then sold my Mav
Don't trash your A/C, just add another compressor. Are we talking TB42? All you should need to do is have a good look at your power steering pump, unbolt it, and fab up a (fairly) simple bracket that relocates it upwards as far as you can go while still fitting under the bonnet. Then on the same bracket you put mounts for an A/C compressor from a wreck - Sanden 508 is good if you can find one. If I recall rightly you just put the power steering high pressure hose back onto the pump the opposite way around and it is then long enough.
You can make the belt line up on a bench so it is fairly easy. Then you use the same belt for both the power steering and the new compressor.
Search "Sanden 508" on this forum and you'll find what you need to do to set up the compressor, tank, etc.
That's on a 1988, not sure if it is different on a 91 but you get the idea anyway.
