I've tried to search but it's not working for me, so here goes.
My 2h in HJ75 troopy began to run a bit rough, felt like it was occasionally missing and would intermittently lack power, ie foot flat to floor and almost zero acceleration.
To fix it I thought must be a fuel problem so changed the fuel filter and the aftermarket glass bowl type and filter etc. Bled it and started and ran well, took it for a drive then it was back to it's old tricks, power dissapearing and missing, then stalling completely.
I've bled it again and it will run for a minute or 2 then slowly dies and stalls, re bleed it and runs well again until @2mins later it dies.
An thoughts on what is wrong? It must be sucking air in somewhere but I can't see what I have upset in the filter change process, all advice appreciated. Do the hand lift pump's wear out as maybe by continually priming the system it has died ? I have no idea

injector pump usally depentant on k's probally start with injector pump and injectors or take to dyno joint to test air fuel ratio narrows it down a bit
Yes the lift pumps do tend to leak and suck air. Do you have the old long stroke style (twist/release/pump)? My reco motor came with a small springy button pump (think it's a bosch?) Might be worth checking out as a replacment - seems like a more reliable design.
Also check condition of all the rubber fuel lines - a slight crack or pinhole in an ageing hose could cause these problems.

Sounds similar to a problem i had with my hj47, every now and then when starting it up it it would run for a few seconds and then die. After changing filters and bleeding it 3052 times it ended up being a loose wire behind fuse box, i have no idea what it went to, killed the car before i got it checked out properly, just wiggled the wire when it played up and always came good, i think it was goin to either fuel filter light or oil senser? Mite b worth a look.

I replaced the fuel hoses about a month ago because someone had fitted normal fuel hose which were all cracked and perished, I fitted transmission line to replace it as that was what was recommended to me.
I have seen the lift pump's on eebay for @$20 so might get me one of them as a cheap trial end error diagnosis.
btw the car has done 396,000klm but was running well, I had been thinking that it might appreciate a reco injector pump and injectors but it was running fine.
I remember reading about a filter on the pump itself behind a bolt? but can't find the info on where to find it, any ideas, maybe this is blocked from the old fuel line, or I may be clutching at straws

Ok, i've removed the banjo fitting and there was no filter there, just straight thru to the pump so that one is eliminated at least. Will try to get the lift pump tomorrow, if that fails where is good for diesel work in the northern suburbs, i'm in Diamond Creek? i will have to get it trailered there as it will only run for a minute or two at a time so preferably not miles away.

As per the above loose wire setup, I found that if the oil sensor wire in my 75 was off, the truck would idle only for 10 secs or so before dying. Perhaps also look into this before spending big on injector pumps etc.
If its not upside down and on fire, I'm not trying hard enough.......

Thanks to all, the problem is now solved. Spent some time googeling and have sorted it.
Turns out the filter on the pump is in the banjo fitting that connects to the lift pump, pulled that off and it was clean as a whistle.
Decided to plumb the glass bowl water separator / filter out of the loop and hey presto no more problems , but, there's always a but, it turns out one of the rubber o rings in the aftermarket water separator / filter was the place that it was drawing in air, so off it came to reseat all the seals and being a gumby I managed to drop the glass bowl which is now in a hundred pieces
Any idea if i can just buy the glass bowl? or will I need a whole new unit, as I will feel more comfortable knowing it has the extra filtration and water separation for the longer trips with questionable fuel quality.
