tail shaft problem in hilux

Post by optima »

hay guys i just fitted a v6 holden motor in my rn 105 hilux. i pulled the motor an gearbox out of a 91 4runner it has a r150f gear box behind it. i used the strandard 4runner transfer case cross member witch lined up the gear sticks great. my problem is the two piece tail shaft isn't long enuf. an i been told that the 4runner one is shorter than the two piece( it didn't come with the the 4runner but i can get my hands on it if i need it) can anyone tell me if this is true. or if there are any alternatives. cheers daniel

The 4runners hav a shorter wheelbase then the dualcabs or single cabs so use a shorter one piece tailshaft, The transfercase should sit more or less in the same position.

Your best bet is to extend your current shaft or have a new one piece one shaft made up. Pretty sure Bubs on here has a one piece to suit single cab for sale.

The 90-95 series prados have a one piece rear shaft with double cardon which may work, Im not sure on lengths tho.

If your current 2 piece one (with centre bearing) is to short then the 4runner 1 piece will be worse as it it shorter.

How far short is it? You may be able to use a spacer if it isnt to bad. If not you will have to hav a new shaft made up. Check with BUBS and c how long his is.
