OK my last two bobs worth on rego/insurance issue
I really take my hat of to any one who organises an event so we can have a play it would not be a easy task with a fair bit of grief involved if the rego/insurance issue was a easy fix it would have been fixed years ago
I just had a look at the top 5 placing maybe the top 10 from Tuff Truck 2009 and I don't know if any had rego if they did I think all of them would have been in a very gray area to pass before you load up to shoot me down I know you don't need rego to enter Tuff Truck
Which I think is great !!!!
I do respect the wishes of all event organisers if rego is required that is how it has to be it would just be nice if there were a few more comps that didn't need rego
Anyway we should let this thread get back to what it is supposed to be about THE 4X4MASTERS

in terms of rego, thats the way it is, it may change as the scene progresses and I am sure that this series will do alot to help that along......all I can say is in the words of Big Kev.....I'm Excited
I was out there talking to Wayne and Mark today, I will be out there on a more regular basis helping with various things as are and will be a few more people behind the scenes. Some 2500 cubes of fill has been tipped to date and earthworks are well on the way. There is a whole crap load or work to be done yet and both Wayne and Mark will be flat out right up until the first event, but 12 months in the making so far and some BIG risks on both their parts has seen this sprout from an idea to what will be a workd first. To any naysayers out there, wait till the first event has been run and if you still don't like i then you take the huge financial risk that both these guys have taken
I am just annoyed I will be to busy helping and wont be allowed to compete co this thing is gunna freakin rock

It seem to me that rego is required so vechile is covered by the green slip public liabilty insurance, BUT the question I ask is If anyone modifiys the vechile outside RTA guidelines Eg 37 inch tiyres, beadlocks, wheelspacers ect won't that VOID the green slip insurance putting a hole lot of people at risk eg the vechile owner the person that did the rego inspection the event organisers !
wouldn't it be better to have the competitors vechile public liabilty insurance issue covered by the event organisers public liabilty insurance
from memory i don't think dragsters stock cars ect have to have rego
anyway I'm not a lawyer so this is only my two bobs worth
The Tuff Truck guys sorted the insurance for their event this year so vehicles didn't need rego.
I feel that all the event organisers need to get together and sort out a solution so competition vehicles do not have to be registered. You can still have all the same limitations on modifications of the vehicles but they should not have to be registered.
At the moment people are forced to have illegal vehicles registered just so they can enter comps.......... it doesn't make sence to me.
What does everyone else think?
EDIT: I am not having a go at the organisers of any event but i think it would take the heat off everyone.
The insurance we use for toperi though TCIS is very cheap but only for registered cars. I'm guess unrego insurance is very expensive.
I would be happy to pay more to compete without the hassel of having to register my truck, im sure some others would agree.
You Kamakzee boys need insurance, I've seen u drive.
And by the way i think whatever rules you guys want to stick by to get another comp off the ground is fine by me.
if it has tit's, wheels or a motor you better have money

I'm just happy i don't have to drive for 2-3 hours to get there! It should pull a massive crowd if it's advertised properly, being in the centre of Sydney. I hope you are keen and not deterred by the all the critasism.
All the best guys good luck and i hope it all goes well, just remember Kamikaze when it comes to sending the invites!

sounds like this is going to be a great thing for winch challenges in NSW.
WOW, if you are like me and enjoy competeing or spectateing top events then this is for you.
No, I am not their new Public Relations officer, I am Just, seriously looking forward to this event.
Best of luck guys, you've got a lot riding on this and your success will benefit all of us, even the other states will benefit because trust me when this works it won't be long before you get your own.
This event is NOT, repeat NOT, once more NOT, a WINCH CHALLENGE
Krimnl, with all due respect, you really should speak with the organisers before you print stuff like this because, unlike a Victorian, a winch to me is an accessory not a neccessity, due obviously to the different terrains.
I (like, i'm sure others ) thought you were actually an official spokesperson for this event and lost all interest as I don't intend getting a second mortgage out to build a winch capable of challengeing the Victorians.

Paul with all your mods will your car be able to compete in this event, as im guessing mine wont be.
I believe so because it passed for Willowglen, which is CCDA Challenge class.macarthur 4x4 wrote:Paul with all your mods will your car be able to compete in this event, as im guessing mine wont be.
Just had a quick look at the regs then and the first thing I came across that might stop a lot of the Tuff Truckers is No Hydraulic Steering allowed.

It rules me out not only that one but the fully unchanged chassis rule too and i only have a set of 42's these days.....
If i got it wrong i apolagise. after speaking to the organisers regarding the running of this event i was told they wanted to run something like OBC style event closer to the city. I have done 7 OBC's and have used a winch in all of them! I will keep my comments to myself until I fly up to Sydney shortly and meet up with the guys in person.3.8BUNDY wrote:Was lucky enough to run into the guys at Eastern Creek this morning, and get a guided tour and a sneak peak of the big picture.krimnl wrote: as for spacers not 1 winch challenge car runs spacers in vic. no need for them. remember this is winch challenge not rock crawling.

Wayne and Mark are flat out at the moment and dont have a lot of time to jump on and answer to much, I am sure you can all appreciate home much time and effort it takes to turn a spectator hill at a race track into a serious 4wd comp track and they are under the hammer to get it done in a very short time frame.
now in regards to the rules, these are draft and will \ are open to change at this stage. My suggestion is, that if you have any issues with the rule then post PM Wayne or myself the rule you have an issue with, why you have an issue with it and your proposed change. i there us a good reason to change a rule and a suitable change then Wayne an Mark may say yep sounds good and throw it into the drafts and discuss with CCDA.
In terms of the track \ comp style, I would suggest that you thing challange class rigs, no winching on a short course points based set up. There will be fairly clearly defined themes and I am as I am sure Wayne and Mark are that te courses will me extremely interesting and challenging.
Cheers

Sounds like a good event, but why would it be held on the last day of Powercruise (www.powercruise.com) 28th Feb 2010?
The only reason i can think of is so they have more spectators?
Normally the whole grass area inside Eastern Creek raceway is open for campers / spectators / parking at Powercruise.

I wont comment on the dates as I had nothing to do with it, I do know it is a matter of finding times that suit everyone and I know Mark and Wayne put a lot of thought into when events were to be held mostly around keeping the events clear of other 4wd comps although I dont see having the first event on the same weekend as powercruise being a problem and if anything maybe introduce a few die hard motorsport fans and rev heads to another great form of motorsport they may not have known about.
Now for the impotant bit heaps more fill has being brought in since the last update and things are moving along nicely. Due to a meet we were unable to do much over last weekend, however it is all hands on deck this weekend. Plenty of course building material is now on site and I expect the boys will drive me hard on the machines to get at least 1 course in a drivable state over the weekend
There is a crap load of work to do and not long to do it, but looking good to have it all done in time and cant wait to see 80 trucks fanging it on big 4wd courses at the creek

hmmm..i think the date clashing with Powercruise was a stuff up...
that area is used for our general admission parking and also anyone who has been to a Sydney Powercruise will know how busy it is through Gate 7 as that is the main entry gate in for our event and it would be a massive nightmare to run two events at once inside the same venue.
i will find out what the go is

Dave, pm sent mate. Had a chat to Mark to clarify.... The event dates were worked out to ensure no event clashed with other 4wd events and were submitted to ARDC who gave it an all clear but came back to see if the first event running on the same weekend would be an issue. Mark and Wayne said no provided powercruise were ok and are under the impression that it haf been discussed with the powers that be.
In ters of parking and camping, my understanding is that camping is on the flat area between the concert hall near 14 and the east and south fences. N terms of parking, the hill the courses are been built on has akaik never been used for parking and ARDC have been expanding dedicated parking areas and I don't personally see any shortfall in parking. Gate 7 will no doubt be busy, but nothing a little thought won't deal with.
Cheers

Seen it again the last few days and looks very nice. What a view on top watching the V8's race around today and road rego'd ferrari's, porches, etc yesterday.
from the quick chat i had with Mark, it should be a great venue for many years to come.
I have driven part of the course already, But not sure if i classify for entry even though its road rego'd.
Well done boys, dont be afraid to hold a working bee to help progress. Count me in.
