C4 auto + transfer options

Post by maxtrax »

Can any one tell me what transfer cases can bolt to a C4 auto.

Looking for options.

Type of transfer used?
What ratio can the transfer run?
who does adapeters for transfer?
Who can adapete a C4 to a motor?

I would go T700 / NP205 using Advanced Adaptor.
Forget the C4. :D

But it makes it obvious what my engine choice would be also :finger:

Advance do a c4 to dana 20 from memory, call marks as they bring the advance stuff in here.

other than that can run a divorced transfer

IMO the only reason to run a C4 is if you had a complete v8 and c4 ready to trhow into something, since your asking what engine a c4 bolts to I assume not in which case there are far better option out there. Marks have various kits to run different v8s etc to various drive train options
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!

Mark's and Dellow's make adaptor's for the C4.

I have a C4, Marks adaptor to 60's Toyota LC Case with 68% Reduction gears.

AFAIK Marks is one of the few companies that make gears for the LandCruiser case, if you went that way.

I have 4.3 diff gears and with the auto and t-case gears it's around 35:1 in low range and think it's perfect, most of the time....

As Tony said "C4 is the shortest auto around"

That is why I am asking as so far I have a Trimatic / sierra trany but I can get a custom bell houseing to fit the motor to I have to a C4. but would like to strenghten the transfer and make it sorter than this compo @ 1100mm.

I can use t700 / t400 and hilux or cruiser transfer but what is the lenght of this?

The dana 20 what ratio? eg 4:1, 6.5:1 etc

You can adapt a C4 to go up to an LT230.

Get some 5:1 gears, JacMac single piece cross shaft and a disconnect and you're laughing. Pretty sure MalV runs an LT230 is his BushRangie.

have you considered a 727 ? my Inter Scout runs a 727 torqueflight and a Dana20 as standard. these are probably the toughest auto tran's ever made :D

It's really only the extension housing that makes the T700 longer than a C4.
If adapting, it doesn't make much difference.....altho that depends on what adaptor is used, as some are longer than needed.

I've seen both combo's (in the same shed) behind V6's and there's basically nothing in it.
Might be the difference in the bellhousing adaptor also.

And it's someone you know, so i'm not full of it.

Have you ever seen each auto side buy side with the extention housing off??
Huge diffrence.

The t700 does have a better 1st gear in it but is no match in the size and length stakes.

Murry. Have you decided what donk as yet or have i missed it?
I would go with what micka said and use a built C4 and an Lt230. With the mogs you wont need reduction gears as the LT is 3.1 out of the box. You can go 5.1s for them if you do think you need them. They are a gear driven box and very strong and plentifull. Dana 20s and the likes are bit to hard for parts and really need a heap of upgraded shafts and crap (look at Gonads buggy).
Engine to auto is the easy part to adapt. From A c4 to an lt is an easy one as well in the right hands.
