Touring seats.

I suspect it could be one of those questions.

But can anyone recommend a good after market seat for a D22 that will see touring duties.

The FIL has just finished the lease on it and is giving it a mild lift, etc for touring.

So I am trying to get some feedback for him.

I have Paratus in the 80, paratour base and paratour rally backs; can be a little uncomfortable around town, but put a big day in the saddle on a trip and they are magic, air lumbar support and good support for your thighs.

Best bet would be to go for a trip around the shops; ARB, Opposite Lock, TJM, Ideal Seat Company; sit in the seats, have a good wiggle round and find which is comfortable. You will then need to be sitting down when you hear the price aswell!

all quality seats will be this price. I had Paratus in the GQ out of an old Ambo, got from Ebay..

Other option is going to wreckers of Hondas/Grey IMports and just trying the seats..

remember to add in engineers $ on top

Yup! Recaros are another gorilla on top of that. AFAIK the Paratus seats are "engineered" installed, ie they have approved mounting hardware for each vehicle, based on the literature that came with the car (previous owner installed them)

I found the 120 prado seats nice and comfy, good lumbar support and reasonable bolstering, something to consider?

Not anymore, or not at least when I bought the GU they are no longer pre-engineered :( Was going to take them out of GQ and put in GU :(

Is it retrospective though? Seats went in like 4 years ago from memory... by the by/OT.

I had to buy complete set, and the chick said I ahd to engineer them.

try the newer subaru seats as well. all the goods, lumber support, height adj drivers seat etc.

Ha ha I had a mate that worked at arb - I said how do you make dollars when you look after the comp guys etc. He pointed to the seats and made comment about elderly folk paying retail.

I bought mastercraft for under $500 ea, apparently the 3g are awesome

Recaro.

There really isn't any other option for a car requiring a touring seat. There's lots of other options for a toy, or a race car, but for hours in the seat, it's all about Recaro.

LS Recaros are well under $1400 a seat.

Paratus are OK. I guess.... but then EF Fairmont seats were made by Paratus as well AFAIK, and they're OK, but A lot cheaper than $1400 from a wrecker.

PS, as for late model Subaru seats - I have an '07 STi and the seats are terrible. The stock driver's seat lasted 2 weeks before I pulled it and put my SP-G recaro in it.

agree the sti seats are not a tourer seat but no way is the sti either. both designed for hard and fast. I would be going libery/outback seats. had a wrx and after 10hr in the seat it was perfect but sti seats were more race bread than the wrx.

Only in colour purplebus. A mate has an 07 WRX and the seats are exactly the same as my STi seats, just a different colour.

I just think they are a terrible seat - flat, poorly shaped, and lacking actual support.

Just my 2C though.

IMO you cant really go past the seats from the VQ statesmans, dont know if theyre the same that came out in the same model commodore, but theyre really comfy.
