Thanks

I've had email contact with a guy whose father is an imorter of maxxis tyres. We were looking at the Mudzilla but it only goes to 35". At that stage we were still interested. Last that I heard was about 2-3 months ago when he said that he'd get back to me. I've emailed him again with no reply. Currently these tyres are not available in Aus. (to the best of our knowledge)

I loked at a mudzilla in the US in august and if you stood back 6 inchs you may think it is a mickey thompson claw. the only offical importer of maxis is Hamilton tyre and rubber. but don't expect them to import them, not their sort of market.

The guy that I was taling to was only looking at bringing say 3 or 4 sets into Aus as a favour sort of deal. All depended on what the compound is like and the $$.

Sorry for the late response... been on hols.

My old man is in the states at the moment. hopefully there will be an answer

So it sounds like this may still be a possibility.

That's alright. The "old man" that he refers to is an importer of tyres so his son (the person who I'm dealing with) predicts that it souldn't be a problem to throw a few into the next container coming over.

Fingers crossed!

I wonder if they'll expand in size on the way over? 37" would be just perfect.

It will come down to cost - if they're cheap I'll give them a go.

If the price is right then I'd give them a go, although I'd have to get another set of rims as I couldn't handle the nooise from claws on a DD

Man...They are a nice tyre.

I would assume that they would be pretty noisy as well. I came back one day from a 3 hour freeway trip with the windows down enjoying the summer. I got home & decided to have a nap & couldn't go to sleep cause I actually had a humming ring in my ears from my claws.

But it's a small price to pay for an awsome set of tyres...the claws that is is.

Plus I don't have to buy any of those kangaroo whistle thingamajiggie things that you stick on the bulbar cause they can hear the CLAWS coming.

I'd still like to suss these Maxxis ones out tho.

mudzilla !!!! seen them !!!!!
we have a maxxis trye supplier in our block of factories !!!!
there are only 6 tyres in the country !!!
they have sold 4 already !!!!! some guy in NSW saw them , & payed them straight up ($500 each)
not the retail price !!!!! still working costs out !!!!!
reckon we can get them for $360 -$380 !!!!!! around that mark !!!!!!
back to the tyres !!!! AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3 sizes
=31x11.5
=33x13.5
=35x13.5
in 15" & 16" rims !!!!!!!
like mentioned B4 , very similar to CLAWS !!!!!
5 ply nylon sidewalls
8 ply treads !!!!!!

1 advantage over claws , the lugs are actually 3 stage stepped !!!!!

sorry about long post !!!!!! :P :P :P :P :P

mmmmm
If anyone knows of writeups on it...please post

BTW Got a flat on one of my claws...Had a nail penetrate. Took it off the rim at Ace Tyres in Smithfield.....My claws are about 1/3 worn....but we realised the amount of sidewall flex now that they're worn in. Took a good 2 months.

you're a legend Moose.

I think a $350 margin would be soooo much more sensable as we pay so much for Super duty tyres here in OZ.

As much as I love my Claws that $150 per tyre difference makes it sensably affordable. Especially when you do the Km's that I do. And would easily turn me to another brand.

Is that for 35's?
If so then they aren't that much cheaper than the claws. The claws I got for $450 each.

Bummer. I thought there would be a better incentive

even at the price of 380 , its got to be better than 325 for mud terrains !!!!!

I can see what you mean Moose. But i would still like a break from paying big bucks for American tyres. I know it's a fact of life but one can only hope eh?!

I would assume that being multi plied it would still ride the same. Seems to have more cuts & grooves in it. I'd say it would be a "Suck it & see" thang

Hey gang, the Mudzilla is a happening thing. I have two samples and discussing prices this afternoon with Taiwan. Not driven on yet but they look and feel great. I have raced on claws for 3 years with Smithy (yello sub) and these are more promissing - much wider, better construction and most importantly smell nicer.
