What the best motor for my hilux
i have an ln106 2.8 and i want a bit more power to push big tyres. What type of motor should i put in and which is easiest? And one more thing my front suspension set up do people use?
I brought the kit complete second hand off Outer Limits it was a Schwitzer turbo, manifold and all plumbing they do come up from time to time, but just be aware that there are a few turbo's out there for the 2.4lt i was told the manifold is different and wouldn't bolt straight on you can but a manifold separate but starts to add up $$$$$$ Try to get one for a 3L or 5L engine much easier..
1KZ if you love torque. ive got a minimum of 325nm in my LN106 from a 1KZ-TE from a jap surf. probably 90+KW too!
Get a KZN130 surf as a donor, and its not much more involved than swapping wiring looms, bout 10 bits of wiring work, and moving the engine mounts.
the 1KD will net you more torque, more power and better economy, but it would be a LOT harder to fit- the ECU for the 1KD is bout 200 wires, the 1KZ is all of 60. Theres also at least two other ECU's in a 1KD hilux, and trying to keep it cool within an LN106 body would be interesting- the new hilux's have a BIG radiator!

2005 HDJ100 Manual, ARB bar, XD9000 winch, ARB rooftop tent + awning, Drawers, Engel, 2" OME lift, 285/75R16 KM2's, iCom, HID XGT's.
Hrmm I thought yours had a lot of work needed and was anything but straight forward? (genuine question )ferrit wrote:1KZ if you love torque. ive got a minimum of 325nm in my LN106 from a 1KZ-TE from a jap surf. probably 90+KW too!

Also what is the cost of a 1kz again? if I am correct for what a 1kz would cost you could fit a 1uz, LS1 or even a fully worked turbo 3rz all of which would net better torque and power but not economy.
I think the original poster needs to clarify if he wished to keep diesel?

Nah buddy, not true. The 2lt-e manifold bolts straight up to a 2.8 head, not a 2lt. You will need to make a small plate to cover up the 02 snesor (i think its o2) o the rear of the manifold.

id like to put a ls1 in my lux if i wanted to go petrol.. but im a lead foot and a ex commodore driver, so thats why i kept a diesel when i did my engine swap. the turbo helps heaps off road.. it seemed to me look a good power/torque upgrade...
