Not getting many answers on Snake so reposting. Can someone tell me how much is a reasonable price for:
a. Reco'd Sierra 1.3L transfer case
b. Vitara 1.6L EFI engine, gearbox and transfer case

Thanks in advance.

About $250 - $300 for a good 2nd hand xfer case.
Full reco xfer case is over $800 (retail)
You'd be looking at around $2500 for a Vitara 1.6EFI + tranny + xfer

While we are at it I'm chasing an 1.3 engine gearbox and transfer.
I am rushing to try and get my new truck within the next 4 weeks and try and compete in Queensland.
Condition doesn't matter the cheaper the better.
Thanks

I will post some pics when i figure out how to attach them.
It doesn't look like much yet as all I have are to bare chassis rails.
I am still using a Zook chassis but it has been chopped off directly under the seat.I f you saw my old car the chassis ends where my 1/4 elliptic springs started.I started doing the tube work today but when I found out about the XRCC I decided to try and get the truck finished and enter.I think I'm pushing s--t uphill but it's worth a try. I have to try and keep the big rigs honest.

It will1/4 elliptic in the rear
Spring over in the front using mazda springs.
Vitara diff in the rear
vitara with dana knuckles in the front
37 mtr's
The new truck is going to be both bullet proof and hopefully 10 times better built than the last one as it was the test bed for the new one.

I am using dana 44 knuckles and axles in the front. I chose to use Vitara diffs because.5.12 ratio standard. More clearance than hilux and dana.Lastly cheaper.
I am trying to build a competitve truck that maybe one day market as a complete buggy as you can buy in the States but at a reasonably cost.

Just enter, then bring it up here and shit loads of steel and we can finish it of up at the comp.

As long as it goes, bolt some spookie panels on and there you have it, pupose built rock rig.

I dont drive a zuk but think there awesome when built correctly.

It seems the yankies are all going feather weight rigs.

If you dont get it finished in time come up and check it out anyway.

1.3L

Post by N*A*M »

Hey Sam,

Your plan sounds good. Bozook was a weapon, this is gonna be even better. I've found a '84 Sierra in good nick with a locked up xcase. The engine has only done 107000kms and the only thing wrong is the transfer is stuck in neutral. The old dude that owns it don't wanna pay the cost that was quoted to him to fix it up. I'm seriously thinking about getting this and putting the Vitara mechanicals in it. If I do, the engine and gear box is up for sale and I reckon it might fit the bill as to what you want. It'll offset the cost of putting the Vitara stuff in for me. Can you email me on tranhtn @ yahoo.com.au if you're interested? Thanks.

ATT: N*A*M - buy that zook

Post by Damo »

Nam, how much is the old guy selling the zook for????????

That problem with the xfer case is prolly just the shifter "sheet". Same thing happened to my first SWB. It costs about $15 in parts to fix and a bit of your time. This is the most likely situation, but of course the case could be buggered. In any case it's not hard to fix, just get a 2nd hand xfer case.

Nam, before you coughing up for another transfer, check it's not the plastic seal sheet under the transfer case shifter. ( it's only a cheap part)

I can't believe I am going to do this, but I am going to defend ARB! They only raped me a little bit on the lockers for my truck (compared to major fistworthy ass-raping on the lockers for my last truck) And.. wait for it.. They lent me some tools a couple of weeks ago free of charge!!
