i finally got the new brakeline and some shocks in, and took it for a test run. the flex goes ok but the shocks are binding up a bit. there is more flex to be had just have to sort out the shocks

I just went and tried the set up out again. Conclusion: need 80mm bump stop extension and need to move the shock over so it doesnt bind on the control arm some how as this is stopping the axle from dropping down more as you can see. there is still plenty of downtravel to be made once the shocks are sorted. i might go to the local skate park and flex it up on a ramp with no shocks to see how it goes

Why wuld you want to space your bump stop? You then lose 80mm travel. You are not going to gain that in droop. Also look at the front mount of the radius arm design. A big lift simply means less down travel due to design so reducing up travel is a lose - lose situation.
The arms bind up with only a little more travel than with the normal shocks on. I only got an extra inch up the ramp with no shocks and the vehicle still leaned alot due to the front not working very well.

Would be interesting to see that same test with a bump top spacer in place
The spacer should in effect work as a fulcrum to force the low side to move further down.

i looked at the shocks today and it will be a pain in the ass to move them. the RHS will be easy but the LHS has all brake lines,fuel lines and brackets in the way. Pajero's have a shit shock setup as they sit like this \__/ not the preffered /__\. The fulcrum comment is actually correct.
Once the compressed side is on the bumpstop it acts like a lever forcing the other side down so you still get maximum droop (as much as the shock will allow).

i have the same problem with the shock hitting the radius rod. would removing the inside lower shock mount with a plasma cutter and rewelding it on the outside work? making the standard outer mount now the inner one. this would move the shock over about 70mm. will the shock be okay mounted on a bit more of an angle like this?
