Sierra with 1.6 EFI Died. Help Please.

Post by Mitchie »

hi guy my I’ve been on a trip @ double island and rainbow beach and on the way back to camp the car lost all power and died and now will not start.

Things that are not working that i know of:
-Fuel pump
-Coil Pack (no spark)

Could there be something wrong with the computer i had a blown 20amp fuse changed it but it made no difference.

Any help greatly appreciated

have u got the fault light connected / installed?

if so you have to bridge the connector to get it to show a code as such.

Take your dissy cap off and crank the motor - just make sure that the dissy is spinning. Sounds silly, I know, but we once spent 5 hours trying to troubleshoot "electrical problems" on a 1.6 EFI that wouldn't run only to find out it was the timing belt that broke.

Just a thought.

I'd also investigate the fuel pump.

hey guys thanks for the help
nic i bridged the connection to find a code 52 Fuel system fault
so i looked into the fuel pump removed and connected it up to the battery and it ran then put it all back togeather and still didnt start so i hot wired the fuel pump to the battery and it started!!!! so it ended up being a faulty connection.

now all i have to do is replace original coolant fan as the termo fan is stuffed (due to losing all its baldes and messing up my nice radatior :bad-words: )
and fix up my fuel tank which has been punctured :bad-words:

but i guess thats what i get for doing a rally cross through a badly corrogated dirt/pothole/washed out dirt road but it was great fun '
