hi guys im cutting down my GQ wagon into a extra cab whats the best way of getting the size for the back window.
i was thinking if getting the glass out of gu ute and just making the hole 10 mm bigger then the glass on the back wall of the cab is that the way to go
if there is a better way let me know
cheers matt

get intouch with dale from 2DEXTREME fabrication, he has done 2 dual cab conversions this week, & is working on my dual-cab at present. he uses the back walls of ute bodies, itsa lot cleaner, & looks more factory, & he has a few in stock..

gudday fellas
just got mine outa paint shop Monday, GQ wagon cut down to a extra cab.
We unfortunately have no utes over here so use the Nissan Navara rear panel and it looks great.
All panels (other than the Navara rear) Pillars, and steel used from the original wagon as you can see.
I have no shots yet of finished Ute but here are some of the work in progress......
will put finished shots up if anyone is interested.
regards Garth

GQ with 30 PSI of TD42T.........
gudday fellas
still haven't got any finished pics yet, they'll be coming soon.
here are some more stage photos of the build as its easier than describing it.
we used the existing door and fabricated the inside edge outa parts from the roof, i'll put some shots up later if wanted as it was a bit tricky......

Was about 7.5k including full re-paint and glazing.
Havent thought about water entry through back cab vents.....good point though! spose you could seal em up with some sika if req.
This wagon is being set up for a contract which involves 'light' off road work so if the boys have water comin in through those vents there will be some arses kicked!

excellent job on the conversion garth looks great
7.5k is about the normal price for these conversions give or take a bit
im doin my conversion myself(mq wagon to extra cab)and im hoping to have the vechicle fully rebuilt and converted alot cheaper than that
but to save money takes time,of course ,as it gets closer to completion i still have the option of putting a gq chassis and running gear under it and making it into a gq,but ill see a bit further down the track
the easiest for the average person to do with these conversions is use the ute rear panel, but as we all know theyre getting scarce,so we have to make do with wat we can get
but very nice job, probably best ive seen for a long time
