Garret Oil Feed Restrictionn Fitting GT28.
Gday fellas,
Wanting to hear from others who are running a Garret GT28 and have installed it themselves.
Ive run my oil lines but am getting a high pitched squeal type sound higher in the rev range and under boost over about 5psi.
I was doing a bit of reading and noticed that Ball Bearing turbos require and oil restriction to keep the pressure below about 25psi or so.
Was just wondering who has installed them where did you get it?
I think my odd sound may be related to my pressure issues.
Just to eliminate a few things, turbo is brand new shaft play in and out is acceptable for a BB turbo, no signs of turbine contact on compressor housing or turbine housing.
Any pointers would be great
Cheers Rhys

Yeah well that was my next deduction as to what the sound could be.LUX90 wrote:The GT Garrett turbos have the oil restrictor built into the bearing housing.
What vehicle is it on, Are you 100% sure there are no boost leaks anywhere. I have heard some really strange noises made by boost leaks especially as boost went over a certain level.
I cant see anywhere that the GT series turbos have the restrictor built into them, I thought they had it built in to, but now ive seen the fitting available on the net ( in the states ) I was a little unsure.
Well I figure, why would they be making them for these turbos if they had them built in? Think it might be a goer..nastytroll wrote:The oriface on a gt garrett is in the bearing retainer. fit the orifice closest to the turbo. If you fit it to the other end of the hose it could cause a slow oil feed on start up and damage the bearings.Rhysta wrote:Well I figure, why would they be making them for these turbos if they had them built in?
