Issues with Speedo Gears for my NL

Post by petes 80 »

Hi Guys,

I am wondering if anyone can assist me. I have spoken to 2 Mitsubishi dealers yesterday and they were about as helpful as a fart in an elevator. I had my VIN number and everything else i needed and I attempted to use the part number 739274 for the 24 tooth gear as I have 32" tyres. I also tried to get the diff gear info for my truck and they couldn't find that either. I was informed that the number needs a letter prefix and the only 1 they could find was MD739274. This was a speedo gear but they couldn't tell me how many teeth it had, and then suggested I go to TJM or ARB as it is an aftermarket alteration, "WHAT THE". I contacted ARB and they referred me to VDO. I haven't called VDO yet as I was getting very frustrated as you can imagine. So if anyone can assist me with this issue that would be great.

Cheers Pete :? :? :? :? :? :?

Hi Pete

Sorry to hear the Mitsu dealers are giving you a hard time - the dealership I used (Zupps Aspley - a few years ago now) were very helpful, almost like the bloke was enjoying something different.

The MD bit sounds about right now that you mention it. Ask them to look up MD739276 and MD739275 - with any luck, one of them should register as a speedo gear for NL Pajero. If that works out (and no, they won't have a record of the number of teeth - they don't care how many teeth it has, they just look at fitment information) then I expect you're safe to order the 274 part number.

Hi Scott,

Thanks mate Zupps Aspley was the one that I called as well as Mt Gravatt. I will walk in to the dealer I think as they seem more helpful if you are standing in front of them. I will keep you posted

Cheers Pete
