Prado Diffs?

Post by Kalex »

Hi, i have a '97 Prado with the 2.7 3RZFE. It has 4.3 diff gears as standard, which are the lowest to come out in a prado.
Wanting to run larger rubber, does anyone know if Prado diffs are the same as Hilux diffs, so could i run some 4.56 or 4.88's?
Also are the lockers the same part and interchangable?

The rear diffs are but I am not sure on the front, I know the 120 Prados run an 8" front diff, as do the new Luxes. Best bet would be to checkout www.pradopoint.com there is a lot of info specific to the Prados on there.

Has anyone got a ARB catalog? i thought that the Prado air locker and Hilux were the same part number, and if that is the case then why wouldn't the R&P be the same? It seems strange that Toyota would use something out of a 2wd or even develop a seperate diff, when they have the diffs from a Hilux or Cruiser.

The front is a reverse cut 7.5" from a Tacoma in US and Rear is a 8" from Hilux.
Found this place in US that sells all the gears and lockers

We now have access to 4.56, 4.88 and 5.29 gears
