gigglepin dual motor winch??

does any one use the gigglepin winch? much better than say a warn or something? how much are we talking for one of these?

mmm dam, im only an apprentice of course i cant afford it... its taken me a years worth of saving to put in bit over 4k of suspension into my patrol, but i can save well.. (well always broke but when i do get money it gets pumped into my truck)

Remember you'll need 2 motors and if you go for that type of solendoid pack you'll need 2 of them as well.

i got one of them... been sitting in my shed for a while waiting for the rest of the car to get finished so i can sit on

there fken ausome.... havnt had mine in action yet but just go watch some wich challanges...
put 24v into them adn they pull as fast if not faster then 1st gear low rang

You still need a high mount to bolt the motor too but they are an awesome winch and hyro winches are crap compared to these babies

What about the flamin fabrications twin in-line motor mod? They seem to be a MUCH cheaper way of getting two motors on a high mount, worth looking into I would think?

Pretty sure the on track boys started with flammin fabs twin motor set up and later switched to the gigglepin winchs. Not sure why would be intresting too know.

TasMq why are hydro winchs crap compared to the gigglepin set ups ? Surly a well set up V8 powered hydro winch would pull just as well if not better than a twin motor high mount.

Just on a side note

There is a company up this way in Rockhampton... I think it is Russtuf?
And he builds triple motored low mount winch's that do 18km/h under full load... they are rediculous for winch challanges and as far as I can see at XWC where there was a number of Giggle Pin'd (just the hat) High mounts, the low mount blew them out of the water for outright speed.

Might be worth looking into?

The guy that builds the winch drove in Cliffhanger 09. Came 5th overall in the ARB Rockhampton GQ ute.

He works at ARB Rocky so worth calling there and asking about them?

I believe that they are alot less than $7G...

Gigglepin offer different gear ratio's, couls by why Ontrack changed.

Yes they can be built and are faster but they are expensive as. I have heard as much as $20 000 and upwards.

Even cheaper now $600 + gst.... to help those who can't afford other options.

You really need to ask do you need a $10k+ winch, are you competing?
If its the wow factor, put your money elsewhere in your truck

i have heard of a gu down sth that has the gigle pin winch with a flamin twin motor stup .yes that is 4 6hp motors dont now if its true but it is what i heard

dont know about distrbutors here, but i got mine in the UK (housing, with gear set inside) my cousin bought it and sent it over, cost me $650 AUS plus new 6hp motors and wiring and solinoids.

not any faster than a single 6hp but man has it got some pull

bit of a thread jack here, im lookin at going the gigglepin top hat soon. whats the most common ratio getting around these days for winch challenge? hoping to get over from WA to compete in the ATECO this year.

i read they make something bullsh*t like 60% faster now

now thats all well and good if youve got a straight long pull but if you get stuck in a big rut problem is when you go to pull it in again you got more chance of snapping the rope right becuase of the increased line speed?

was thinking the 25% faster ones or possibly 40%. with 24v going through it its still going to haul ass.

Increased linespeed will decrease the pull on the rope - you'll be less likely to snap the rope with the same given motor when running higher linespeed gears.

Yep, but the fact is that you have two 12 volt 6HP motors being fed 24 volts. That sort of power from the motors can make sort work of a rope if it isn't in good condition, no matter which gearing you choose.

Yes, though thats different to what was asked and what I commented. I've made it pretty clear that my comment was in relation to the gear changes in isolation and not by doubling the motors and doubling the voltage.

I got a full Gigglepin winch ( dual motors+freespool housing) on my Landy as mid winch.
I think the winch design is very clever and the quality is good, but it still takes me 2-4 flicks on the switch to make it work. The Gigglepin winches here have a better spring and work without any issues as far as I know. As I said, the design is spot on, but my experience is mixed.m
