Bodylift on Fj40
Guys,
Just about to do a 2" bodylift on the shorty 40 and I'm just posting to see if anyone else out there has done it before and whether there's any advice or opinions that can be shared??
Any help appreciated...

Try it yourself. Plug in 'bodylift' then any other combination of 40 or fj40 etc. Not everyone has time and motivation to troll through posts from 2006.KUSTOMV840 wrote:Try the search function mate, its been talked about on here lots recently. ..........
I'm looking for current information and opinions from people with experience. Not the bog standard "do a search' comment that people feel obliged to submit.
I'm already aware of the issue with the steering column and how you have to do some modification to the firewall. I also know about the issues some people have had removing the old/standard bolts and mounts.
Is there any other issues that people have had?? Would AZZA be prepared to share a little more info about why you wouldnt do it again??
Sorry about the snide post but im not a newb, i'm fully aware of the search function and hate it when people can't just offer help instead of being smartasses...

I'm another one from the anti camp. I recently removed the body lift that the PO had in my 40.
Not much to be aware of really. Make sure your lines and wires are extended were needed. Especially the solid lines to your brake booster assembly. You'll lose a bit of shifter length etc...
What was the reason for the lift mate?

Im here for the sausage!
cheers guys. Forgot about the solid lines for the brake booster. That might be a pain in the ass.
Looking to do the Qld 2+2. ie 2" bodylift and 2" suspension. This keeps me legal and high enough to fit some 35's with plenty of space to spare. (most peoe will now say " but 35's aren't legal" which is why I have a second set of road tyres....)

Definition of having balls: to come home drunk smelling of perfume, slapping the wife on the arse and saying 'Your next fatty"!
It is pretty straight forward apart from the steering. But there are better options than the body lift to clear 35's. Modify your suspension by fitting longer springs and you will achieve:
increased wheelbase
increased wheel travel
better ride
plenty of room to clear 35's
you will achieve none of these with the mods you have planned (except the room to clear the 35's). The body lift / 2"springs is quicker and easier (apart from the steering). For info on fitting longer springs search shorty40 and twisty's rigs. I have had both of the above options and the longer springs are definitely the best option. It just takes a bit of effort and fine tuning to get it sorted.
