marlin appear to have a backlog of months...

Which ones are you after twon the seals inside the hub to stop the oil entering the wheel bearings/front swivels or the hub seals to stop water getting into the bearings

For the rear i find it better to ditch the inner axle seal and fit a double lip hub seal and flood the bearings in the hub with diff oil as this makes the wheel bearings last for ever and its a simple mod tho you need to use good quality hub seals .

Up front in the swivels its a bit harder as the oil wont stay in the swivels of a toyo as easy but i bet with some simple mods it could be done so you can run oil in both the CV and the front bearings .

the genuine articles are adequate, they will not leak for 150,000km+ if the maintenance schedule followed, ie that you keep the wheel bearings adjusted. There is nothing wrong with the marlin seal, but it masks other problems. if you have leaking inner axle seals, it is likely to be a symptom of a bigger problem - usually wheel bearings or kingpin bearings, maybe also incorrect shimming of kingpin bearings, or a bent axle housing. put a swivel hub kit through it and use japanese inner seals and bearings.

talking front seals.

The passenger front blew out last yr as a result of air locker malfunction.

then recently the front drivers has gone.
these had new kits put through them within the last 12months.
the vehicle has done less then 8 hrs driving in that time...

admittedly those 8 hrs have been toperi challenge twice and tuff truck.
but still its not a heap of use???

is the housing or axle bent? still shouldn't be that vulnerable. big tyres with big offset put a lot of strain on the wheel bearings, especially in low range.

to answer the original question I think only marlin sells the special ones.

you can improve the situation with off the shelf bits, you can modify the original seals by taking a few turns out of the tension spring to get it to bite a bit tighter on the axle, which will wear it out faster in terms of hours/km but it will seal tighter and better in the mean time. you can also speedisleeve the axles to pump the out harder against the seal.

and i seem to always forget about ringing them in the mornings....
stupid time differences!

big tyres yeah the 42s on 13inch rims might not help.. but has to be a solution.

Give Chris from locktup a call they sell a heavy duty kit for the hilux swivel hubs with the seals you are after.

The Marlin seals are on back order and they do not have a time frame. We've had a bunch on back order for a few months now.

I've got a set of 2 of the marlin seals that I've had kickin in a box for a few months now that I'll prob not ever even use since I've not got a solid axle up front to even use them on. ive had this problem as well, the heavy duty axle seal is not the answer, thier is a brass bush in the stub axle that aligns everything, if that has the slightest bit of movement this is what distroys the axle seal every time, i would be having a look at this first, i put 3 seals in my truck before i changed the bush, since then i have never changed a seal.

As you know Rob i had the same issue. Took the diff housings out and had them straightened, turned out that was the issue. They were well bent, and since then no problems. But yes the bronze bush does also need to be within specs.

yeah ive done one on each side. so not sure if its bad luck or an issue.
i just figured, hey why not just do it once and hopefully do it right....

GEnuine work well when the rest of the front end is as its supposed to be and for a HD option, fit 2

had that problem once, they gave me Marlin HD hilux ones by accident. easy swap and the new ones fitted fine!

Who else has them in WA? We at Locktup haven't had any for the 80 series for about 4 months now and they aren't even on our website.
