Outlaw class isn't established yet so I think you will have some more competition next year but once we have a full field and if you are dominating Outlaw you might be doing the Maccas run for the Buggies. I'll have a Mighty Angus burger meal please. :finger:

I really can't see how a fully reg'd and blue plated vehicle should have to compete against full tube buggies.... if this is the case then every vehicle of equal modifications should also have to move into that class.

No it's not that is why I said that once we get a full field and if you still dominate then you would have to move up. If you were good enough to dominate an Outlaw class then you are good enough to go up against Truggys. Don't be a skirt :armsup:

The idea is to have fun. If you have fun winning every round that so be it but I don't want to be handing out prizes week in, week out to the same people.

I am thinking that in a 6 month period you can win 2 rounds and win 2 prizes and get free Park passes (Sorry Brenden) for the next round if you win after that but by then you would most probably be winning the overall prize which was a free Tigerz11 winch last season. If you want to keep to the lower class after that then this is perfectly fine as long as you don't mind not competing for the prize so others have a chance to get a piece of the action.

If its supposed to be ALL FUN then why pay to compete? just turn up at the park and have a drive with your mates. If it's a competition then you are turning up to compete, are you not? Personally its never about prizes or trophies or sheep stations or frozen chooks. Its about getting together as a group and 4wd'ing with a competitive spirit. Its funny to hear comments about this 'all fun' stuff, cus when you are at these comps, most guys wouldn't even lend you a zip tie incase that might give you an advantage and you might beat them. I couldn't count the times i have worked through the night on other competitiors cars just so we have someone to compete against on an equal level. But as for penalising competitors because they have some driving skill, thats abit so-so. If its FUN then maybe other guys in that class would be able to watch and learn some of their tricks or lines and increase their own abilities. To me competitions are all about learning.

They haven't finalised the rules, as yet, and you know as well as anyone the perils of trying to set rules that are 'fair' to everyone and make it hard for the more experienced and seasoned guys to get around them.

And Shane...you're arguing with an Engineer :roll: That's like rolling in shit with a pig. You'll both end up covered in the stuff and stinking to high heaven...but then you'll realise that the pig enjoys it.

so wot if he's an engineer, this season just gone has just grown and grown, so shane and brendon have some good and valid ideas. and its their comp, theyre entitled to an opinion.
1madengineer it does sound like your just trying to stir people up. clearly youve got plenty of experience in running comps, i understand your involvment in pro truck and the sorts, but your comments about people probably not even willing to lend a zip tie is quite simply wrong. i can only speak for extreme as thats where i compete, but it certainly was fun and social, with competitors even naving for each other, helping fix trucks and lending parts. same goes for outlaw from what ive seen. so the fun part has been achieved already.
yes we do pay an entry fee but: 1, brendon does incure costs in running this, its gotta be covered somehow. 2 it is definately a competition but that can still be fun. yeah we keep score, we pay a fee and we'd all like to win, but we cant all afford to compete in winch challenges or rock crawling comps, so this allows us the buzz of being in a 4wd comp, the excitement, without some of the seriousness and cost. its the competing that makes it fun, different to a social drive. there's fun amateure comps in all sports, why shouldnt there be for us, n this is wot this comp is. so its not bullshit. it is a comp AND fun. im not sure if youve made it down to watch one yet, but if u havent perhaps you shouldnt be commenting on how competitors behave.
as to whether someone has to go up a class because of success, im sure that will not be black and white, it will be up to the organisers discression. i think its been said in regards to some cars currently competing that are on the borderline of goin up anyway, in regards to specs. im sure they wont make an x mod car go to outlaw that really isnt equipped for it. i was successfull this year, and if they ask me to not compete for prizes if i continue to be succesfull next year, than i have no problem with that. for me its about bragging rights anyway.

I am still undecided whether we should be keeing the modified rules the same with respect to lockers. That is, keeping the limited slip in the rear and adding a front locker.
Then open centre people can run a front or rear locker but not both at the same time. It isn't fair to the open centre people but more weekend warriers are going to spend money on a front locker before they are going to replace the limited slip.

shane knows i am just stirring him up, I am not competing next year (maybe on the buggy though) but have offered my services as an independent scrutineer, and maybe even run a stage or class if he'll let me :twisted:
Shane set rules and stick to them, no swaying or bending from them - for ANYONE. Remember if you are charging entry, you are theoritically entering a contract and therefore must be adhered to. If you are offering prizes and are 'tweaking the rules' beware! it can get messy...

If you plan to not compete then I would love to see you do the Outlaw stage so Brenden can have some fun himself and compete in it. It isn't my decision to make but Brenden does need help by people who know their stuff.

I have spoken to Brenden about rules and stuff but he is more focused on getting some bling for his 75 Series before Christmas. I am not sure if his Mrs knows what he has planned.

A few of us tried hard including a Patrol, my Grand Cherokee and the SWB Pajero. We didn't have enough clearence and our Nav's couldn't carry big enough rocks.

I heard that you got plenty of panel damge on the 80, where are the pics?

Suspension Stuff 4x4 Club/Forum Challenge
SPECIFICATIONS
STOCK CLASS

Maximum 2” Lift – 10 point penalty for every inch above
31" Tyres Maximum 5 point deduction for 32’s on each track and 10 point deduction for 33’s on each track
Must be registered
Any car can compete in this class if the driver doesn’t feel comfortable driving in the next class. Brenden will decide on the penalties and if the car is substansially modified the driver may not be eligible for the prize.
No Lockers. If the car comes standard with an LSD good luck and have fun driving after all it’s a stock class if the factory was smart enough to build it that when then you were smart enough to buy it
If you win more than twice you get a trophy and can win overall but the prizes will go to the next place getter. End of series prize is the car with the most series points.

STREET MODIFIED

Maximum 4 inch lift (including body lifts)
Maximum 33 inch tyres
If you run 34’s you get a 5 point deduction on each track. If you run 35’s you get a 10 point deduction on each track.
1 locker or LSD. We don’t care if the traction aid is front or back but you must have one diff open.
If you do have a locker and a limited slip you get a 10 point penalty for every stage you enter.
Must be registered
Engines – bigger the better
If you win more than twice you get a trophy and can win overall but the prizes will go to the next place getter. End of series prize is the car with the most series points.

EXTREME MODIFIED

As high as you like.
Maximum 37 inch tyres if your worries about the inch to 35’s buy some 37’s. If the inch realy does make a difference wait for the car to win twice and you’ll get the prize for coming second.
Any traction aids.
Roll cages not essential but roll over protection advised. If you don’t have cages don’t worry you just won’t be able to drive some of the bonus lines.
Drivers Window up or nets. If Navi is in the car passanger window must be up or net
Must be registered not QDT road worthy. Cars that aren’t road worthy must be towed into the park.

OUTLAW

Any sized tyres
Must have harnesses, window nets and helmets and roll cage, internal or external. 11evl cling rap doesn’t count as a roof.
Nos must be checked by someone who knows what they are looking for. Brett, Rhett, Michael, DGR boys.
Rear steer is fine because if someone turns up with rear stear we’ll take the stop, reverse penalties away.

BUGGIES / TRUGGIES
Must look good.

Kill switch mounted within reach of driver and appropriately marked.

These rules leave room for heaps of mods even in the street modified and extreme modifed classes.

I am planning to have a day/night extreme endurance speed event at Scenic rim. Whoever can do the most laps wins. Possibly in the middle of next year.

The course is not yet decided but it will include the longest and hardest creek runs and the hardest tracks we can find.

You won't need the biggest engine but you will need a very capable 4WD or buggy and you will need a winch. You will need a roll cage for safety.

It is only an idea at this point but Brenden has given preliminary approval.

You will be able to do pre-running on the course months before the event.
