4 link calculator qtn
Hello!! Im currently doing a 4 link conversion in the rear of my 1991 suzuki sierra. I've got all of the control arms, coils, coil mounts etc figuired out, but i just started playing with the 4link calculator - and buggered if i can get my head around it!! It appears that i need the following measurements for the calculator to work: Front and the rear un-sprung mass, the vehicle mass, the COG etc. But, the cab needs to be on for me to be able to get most of these measurements.. but i have already got my cab off!! I also cant figuire out all of this X Y Z stuff either Can anyone please give me some advise?? Thanks heaps

Hey
I have just been playing with this stuff on my 40, will see how well i can help you out .
From what i can work out on the pirate calculator =-
x = length of control arm forward from centre line of rear axle to link end
y = 1/2 of horizontal separation of link ends at frame
z = height of link ends from ground
If you already have you coils and rates worked out then i guess your helfway there .
hope this helps

Working out your actual COG is close to impossible for the average DIYer but if you're super keen, read here: http://www.jeepaholics.com/tech/cog/
However, the generally accepted dodgy way is to measure from the top bolt on your car's bellhousing. Fair bit easier.

Pretty much everything you wanted to know about the 4-link calculator from the guy who designed it.
If you haven't already, read this too: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=168577
Great way to get a further understanding of 4-links in laymans' terms
