Major Sponsors - Suspension Stuff
We are gong to have an off road 8 hour endurance hard rock speed event at Scenic Rim Adventure Park at Beadesert near Brisbane. The track will be able to be driven and winched by modified winch trucks but it won't be for the light hearted. We will have vehicles that have at least 35" Tyres, good approach, departure and ramp over angle. If you have a capable vehicle with smaller tyres please let us know.
Whoever can do the most 10km laps wins. You will get a timed 15 minute break every lap for fatigue safety.
We will start in intervals between 1 minute intervals. Qualifying is yet to be decided.
We will postpone this race until September or October so we can make sure it is organized properly so the event can be a raging success.
This event will include the longest and hardest creek runs and some speed sections.
You will need a minimum 35" tyres (will look at smaller tyres), good ground clearance, approach and departure angles. You will need a roll cage, harness and helmet for safety. Bring jerry cans for refueling and you can leave them at either of the 2 refueling spots.
We will require you to run the course slowly before the event unless you email us your previous race achievements. We will soon have a map with GPS coordinates and the course will be signed so you can go through the course at your leisure. I will organize tag alongs every month so you can decide if you are up for it.
Entry is $300. Prizes undecided and will depend on who Sponsors the event. If you want to sponsor prizes or time helping please contact me, (Shane Crowther on 1300 048 991 or at trade@suspensionstuff.com.au.
We will have several Marshall stations (need heaps of volunteers) around the park so people stick to the course. Marshalls will be on channel 13.
If someone is close behind you please let them pass. A polite honk or whistle might work if they haven't seen you. If you have been passed, you can't pass the vehicle who past you until one of the next 8 marshaling points.
I hope that plenty of people bring video cameras so we can pool our resources and make an awesome DVD. Let us know if you are keen to put all this footage together to make the DVD.

MARSHAL RULES
Safety
• Marshal vests or high vise competition shirts must be worn at all times while on the tracks.
• Never stand in front or behind a moving vehicle.
• While the vehicle is moving you will stand a minimum of 2 meters to the side of the vehicle
• Spectator Marshalls are to keep spectators a minimum of 20m from the vehicles on the tracks.
• All Marshals are too wear sunscreen.
• Only recovery marshals are to recover a vehicle unless the owner of the vehicle can recover their vehicle.
• All marshals must read and sign the safety management system prior to entering the track. This induction will take about 45mins-1 hour
Time Sheets
• The driver of the vehicle must sign the time sheet at the check points.
• It’s the driver responsibility to sign the log. If the driver misses the time sheet there will be a 2 minute penalty.
• Each full lap will require a mandatory 15 minute break. There will be 10 stop watches at the start finish line with the drivers getting out of the car and starting the count up to 15mins. The driver is responsible for the time keeping. If they forget to start the clock they must begin the count up when they remember.
• Ensure the time sheet number matches the car number
• UHF Ch14
Recovery Cars
• The recovery car must at all times be in sound working order. If the car breaks it is not to be used.
• There will be 3 cars located in the 3 sectioned areas. Should there be more than one car in need of help then the 1st car has priority.
• The recovery cars must ensure the sponsors logo is on the vehicle at all times.
Service Providers
• Police will provide spectator control. Two officers will be assigned to the flat spectator areas.
• St Johns Ambulance will be the drive and spectator medical supervisors.
• Vehicle recovery will be overseen by Brenden Harris
• OH&S requirements – Trade Facilities Management.
• Water and Sanitary – SRAP Wendy Harris
Detailed Rules and Regulations
RECOVERY EQUIPMENT
All vehicles must have the following minimum recovery equipment (compatible with all winches fitted):
1. 1 minimum 25m snatch strap.
2. 1 minimum 25m winch extension
3. 1 tree protector strap.
4. 1 snatch block.
5. 2 stamped and rated shackles (safe working load of min 3.25 tons).
6. 2 pairs of appropriate gloves (not woollen).
7. Winch dampener (approx 1kg).
8. Suitable recovery points to the front and rear of the vehicles.
9. All winches must comply with the following regulations:
10. Minimum size of winch is 6000 lbs rated.
11. Cable / rope must be in good condition.
12. Winch is not mandatory although the recovery car may take time in getting to a stuck car.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT
1. A fire extinguisher (min 2kg) system must be carried on all competing vehicles.
2. All vehicles must carry a first aid kit.
3. Regulations as detailed above are the MINIMUM required.
4. All vehicles must comply with the rules as stated above.
RECOVERY
If a competitor is recovered by a Marshall's vehicle they can continue if the care is not broken.
Competitors can be recovered by other competitors. I don’t think this will happen that often unless they are really in the way.
WARNINGS AND PENALTIES
In the event of an infringement of the rules, there will be no verbal warning given before a penalty is charged. Remember that the rules are there for the protection of yourself and others.
1. Drivers must not hold up another car if caught. 1 minute tag along only after that a marshal will issue a 2 minute penalty.
2. Winching without dampener 2 minute penalty.
3. Touching or walking over a loaded winch cable/rope. 5minute penalty
4. Swearing in ear shot of a marshal/spectators 1 minute penalty “ F Word, C Word”.
5. Abusing a spectator or fellow competitor 5 minute penalty 1st offence. 2nd offence disqualified.
6. Fighting- disqualified and may result in charges. We will report any conduct of this nature to the police.
7. No alcohol to be consumed at any stage of the event. Disqualified
8. Hands or head out of the car while moving. 2 minute penalty 1st warning. 2nd warning disqualified.
9. Excessive bumping of other competitor’s car 2 minutes.
10. Breaking speed limit zones 1st offence 2 minutes, 2nd offence 4 minutes, 3rd offence 10 minutes, 4th offence disqualified.
11. All drivers must hold a current Driving Licence.
12. Driving of track area 1st offence 10 minute penalty, 2nd offence 20 minute penalty, 3rd offence 30 minute penalty. 1 hour penalty for each additional offence. (The definition of driving off track is missing a section of track as defined in the track map.
13. This may be added to at any time.
SCRUTINEERING
1. Driver and/or co-driver must present their vehicle to the scenic rim adventure park at least one week prior to the event for inspection of the track. The track must be driven at slow speed with all the minimum requirements in or on the car.
2. There must be at least 2 cars together on the inspection run.
3. For interstate or long distant competitors, a list of previous competitions your vehicle has competed in must be forwarded. These competitors will be able to drive the track on the Friday before the event starts.
4. Co-drivers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian or parent or have written permission from them to compete.
BODY/CHASSIS
1. The vehicle must have a complete floor of adequate strength and rigidity supported within the driver/passenger compartment.
2. The vehicle must be fitted with doors or bodywork giving side protection to the driver and passenger.
3. If the vehicle is fitted with driver/passenger doors, hatchback doors, sliding doors, opening boots or tailgates, these must be secured in the closed position during competition.
4. Tailgates may be removed.
5. The load carrying area must be separated from the passenger compartment by an adequate barrier. All items in the passenger section must be secured.
6. All recovery equipment must be stored securely in or on the vehicle.
7. Must have a metal roof that covers the passengers and driver
BRAKES
1. The vehicle must be fitted with brakes that are operative and capable of stopping and holding the vehicle as required. Should the brakes fail at any stage of the track the car must pull over and repair the brakes? If the brakes have been crimped they must be repaired at the next pit stop. If the car has no breaks they must stop and call for a marshal to assist in getting the new bake lines.
2. A parking brake system must be fitted.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
1. Any wet batteries in the driver/passenger compartment must be enclosed in a securely located leak-proof container.
2. Batteries must be securely fastened and terminals protected from short circuiting.
3. The vehicle must be equipped with an effective horn or other audible warning device emitting a continuous tone. A loud whistle can be used to notify the car in front.
4. A battery isolator that cuts the engine is recommended.
COOLING
1. All fluid carrying lines or tubes carrying coolants through the driver/passenger compartment if non-metallic are to be internally or externally metal braided hydraulic hose.
EXHAUST SYSTEMS
1. The exhaust system must be isolated from the driver/passenger compartment. Fire proof rap can be used to lag the pipes
FUEL SYSTEMS
1. All fuel lines passing through the driver/passenger compartment shall be protected and, must be encased in a steel tube/welded hat section.
OIL COOLING SYSTEMS
1. Any oil lines passing through the driver/passenger compartment must be protected and, if non-metallic, be formed of internally or externally braided hydraulic pressure hose.
STEERING
1. All steering joints and couplings must be in serviceable condition.
WINDSCREENS AND SIDE SCREENS
1. Non standard Windscreens must be of laminated glass or plastic of a minimum thickness of 4mm. Plastic side screens, where fitted, should also have a minimum thickness of 4mm unless fitted otherwise by the original vehicle manufacturer. If a windscreen is damaged to the extent that that a hole is made the screen is to be removed at the earliest opportunity prior to continuing with the event. There must be some form of protection in the front window. If you have no front windscreen you can’t continue. (Cars in front can throw stones when spinning wheels)
2. Window nets must cover the opening for the driver and navigators windows.
3. If you don’t have a front window full face helmets must be worn.
SEATING
1. The maximum time for the driver/passenger to get out of the vehicle should not exceed 5 seconds.
2. Safety belts must be worn at all times during competition whilst the vehicle is in motion. The minimum requirement is a four point full harness, with four anchor points on the chassis/body shell or rollover bar of the vehicle on either side and to the rear of the seat.
3. The Navigators seat must comply to the above rule
WHEELS AND TYRES
1. The use of tyre chains is prohibited.
2. Minimum tyre size 35” diameter. Maximum tyre 48”
3. A spare wheel is not a mandatory requirement but, if carried, must be securely fastened.
ROLL OVER PROTECTION
1. No vehicle will be allowed to compete without some form of rollover cage. A manufacturer’s correctly fitted hardtop or Truck-cab shall be deemed insufficient. The impact load must transfer to the chassis. All cages must be braced to prevent crushing.
2. All drivers and navigators must wear crash helmets. Bicycle helmets for the navigators is ok. The drivers must have a helmet that covers the ears
Detailed Track Rules
Passing
1. The car that is in front has 30seconds to pull over and let the car behind pass.
2. The car behind must honk the horn or blow a whistle twice to notify the front car of the intention to pass.
3. Should the car in front not allow the car behind to pass. The rear car is to notify the marshal on channel 14 and notify them of the situation.
4. There is no overtaking in the speed limit sections unless the car is going 5km/ph below the limit.
Winching Passing
1. If a car is more than half way up the climb the car behind must wait for the car to finish winching the hill.
2. The car that is less than half way up the hill, has been caught during the winching must stop the winch. The car is to release the load. Once the load is released:-
1. The car that has caught up can then free spool the winch and begin winching.
2. Both navigators must be clear of the winch ropes.
3. Once the car is free and driving the car that was caught can begin winching.
3. If a car is passed on a winch hill it doesn’t have the right to pass the car in front until the next mapped section.
Rock Passing
1. There are multiple lines and you can pass as you see fit.
2. If there is a car winching, the winching car must stop and reduce the loaded cable for the other car to pass.
3. If there is a broken down car the chicken track can be used to get around the car.
Road Building
1. You can do whatever you want to build the road up. All material used to build the road up doesn’t have to be removed unless the Navi wants’ to.
Refuelling
1. There are 2 fuel spots as marked on the maps.
2. There will be 2x9kg extinguishers and a fire blanket at each refuelling spot.
3. The Navi or driver is to have one in their hand and stand 2m away while the other one fills the car.
4. No one is allowed in the car when refuelling.
5. The steps to fuelling the car is as follows:
1. The person pouring the fuel into the car, is to hold the jerry can and touch the metal on the car.
2. Undo the petrol cap.
3. Pour the petrol in.
4. Place the jerry can back in the waiting spot.
5. Put the cap back on the petrol tank.
6. If there is a petrol spill the liquid is to be washed away.
7. Teams are to have the following at the refuelling depot:-
1. Jerry cans with the type of fuel labelled with the driver name and competitor number. (These can be refilled during the race should a friend do a BP run. Must give friend name prior to start or they will not be allowed to remove the jerry can)
2. Fuel additives must be boxed and labelled
3. No NOS refills allowed.
4. LPG must fill up in a different area to the unleaded.
Track Time Register
1. There will be 3 track time marshalling registers. These will be marked on the track map
2. The drive/navigator will sign the card when available.
3. The 1st 8 hours will be the start finish register sign only.
4. The last two hours will see the track time register marshals at the other 2 stations requiring the drive/navi to sign and time mark.
5. In the event of 2 or more vehicles having completed the same amount of laps and are at the same track section area will be at the completion of the 10 hours. A final half lap drive off will happen.
6. Steps for signing the time card
1. On the completion of the lap. The driver will get out of the car and go to the time signing board.
2. There will be a clock with the time and the hours and the minutes will need to be entered.
3. Once the driver has signed the time card the marshal will verify the details.
Pit Stops / Finished Lap
1. Pit stops are unlimited.
2. If you fix the car you can keep on going
3. You will have a sectioned area for your parts and tools. This is not a secure area and the event organisers and the park owners will not be held liable for any loses.
4. You can borrow from fellow competitors with their permission. The borrowed parts must be logged on the marshalled parts list and names and signatures must be given. This will prevent any accusations at the end of the day.
5. At the end of each lap there is a mandatory 15min break. Time keeping steps.
1. There will be 10 or more stop watches on a board.
2. The Driver is to get out of the car and start the stop watch.
3. Once the watch reaches 15mins the drive will hand the watch to the Time marshal.
4. The Time marshal will sign the driver’s time card and the drive can then start their next lap.
5. If the driver forgets to start the stop watch they must start it from the time they remember to start the watch. The Marshal will not let anyone continue unless there is 15mins on the stop watch.
6. If there is a failure in the stop watch you must notify the Marshal immediately so he can continue the timing on his watch. Don’t try and reset the clock or your time will start again.
Track Recovery
1. If your car needs to be recovered you must ensure the car is mechanically sound.
2. If the cage is severely damaged the car will not be allowed to continue. This will be determined by the head marshal.
3. There will be a marshal recovery car and that car can be called on channel 14. The wait maybe long as the order of recovery will be as requested by the competitors.
4. You must have a working winch.
5. If your winch breaks during a loop. You must fix it or replace it at the next pit stop.
Spectators
1. If you see a spectator in the wrong position you must slow down and report the person to a marshal.
2. There will be 4 spectator points. These areas are shown on the track map.
3. The spectators will be kept either 70m away from the flat section of the track or high on the ridge with the cars crawling up the rocks through the creek sections.
4. We are mindful people want to get close to the cars but this is not acceptable for the competitors and spectators safety.
5. The Navigators have the power to ask and direct a wandering spectator to the correct spectating area.
6. If there are any issues with spectators the competitors are to let the marshals know on channel 14
7. There are two areas where spectators cross the track. This is in a speed limit zone and is marked on the track map. This will be a 5km section and the navi has to walk in front of the car. Those without a navi. It’s a 1st gear crawl.
8. These crossing areas are in the open with at least 100m of view.
Track Management
1. The track map will detail the following:-
1. Each of the 8 sections of the track.
2. The track sections will be colour coded
3. There will be speed limit zones marked on the map

MARSHAL RULES
Safety
• Marshal vests or high vise competition shirts must be worn at all times while on the tracks.
• Never stand in front or behind a moving vehicle.
• While the vehicle is moving you will stand a minimum of 2 meters to the side of the vehicle
• Spectator Marshalls are to keep spectators a minimum of 20m from the vehicles on the tracks.
• All Marshals are too wear sunscreen.
• Only recovery marshals are to recover a vehicle unless the owner of the vehicle can recover their vehicle.
• All marshals must read and sign the safety management system prior to entering the track. This induction will take about 45mins-1 hour
Time Sheets
• The driver of the vehicle must sign the time sheet at the check points.
• It’s the driver responsibility to sign the log. If the driver misses the time sheet there will be a 2 minute penalty.
• Each full lap will require a mandatory 15 minute break. There will be 10 stop watches at the start finish line with the drivers getting out of the car and starting the count up to 15mins. The driver is responsible for the time keeping. If they forget to start the clock they must begin the count up when they remember.
• Ensure the time sheet number matches the car number
• UHF Ch14
Recovery Cars
• The recovery car must at all times be in sound working order. If the car breaks it is not to be used.
• There will be 3 cars located in the 3 sectioned areas. Should there be more than one car in need of help then the 1st car has priority.
• The recovery cars must ensure the sponsors logo is on the vehicle at all times.
Service Providers
• Police will provide spectator control. Two officers will be assigned to the flat spectator areas.
• St Johns Ambulance will be the drive and spectator medical supervisors.
• Vehicle recovery will be overseen by Brenden Harris
• OH&S requirements – Trade Facilities Management.
• Water and Sanitary – SRAP Wendy Harris
Detailed Rules and Regulations
RECOVERY EQUIPMENT
All vehicles must have the following minimum recovery equipment (compatible with all winches fitted):
1. 1 minimum 25m snatch strap.
2. 1 minimum 25m winch extension
3. 1 tree protector strap.
4. 1 snatch block.
5. 2 stamped and rated shackles (safe working load of min 3.25 tons).
6. 2 pairs of appropriate gloves (not woollen).
7. Winch dampener (approx 1kg).
8. Suitable recovery points to the front and rear of the vehicles.
9. All winches must comply with the following regulations:
10. Minimum size of winch is 6000 lbs rated.
11. Cable / rope must be in good condition.
12. Winch is not mandatory although the recovery car may take time in getting to a stuck car.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT
1. A fire extinguisher (min 2kg) system must be carried on all competing vehicles.
2. All vehicles must carry a first aid kit.
3. Regulations as detailed above are the MINIMUM required.
4. All vehicles must comply with the rules as stated above.
RECOVERY
If a competitor is recovered by a Marshall's vehicle they can continue if the care is not broken.
Competitors can be recovered by other competitors. I don’t think this will happen that often unless they are really in the way.
WARNINGS AND PENALTIES
In the event of an infringement of the rules, there will be no verbal warning given before a penalty is charged. Remember that the rules are there for the protection of yourself and others.
1. Drivers must not hold up another car if caught. 1 minute tag along only after that a marshal will issue a 2 minute penalty.
2. Winching without dampener 2 minute penalty.
3. Touching or walking over a loaded winch cable/rope. 5minute penalty
4. Swearing in ear shot of a marshal/spectators 1 minute penalty “ F Word, C Word”.
5. Abusing a spectator or fellow competitor 5 minute penalty 1st offence. 2nd offence disqualified.
6. Fighting- disqualified and may result in charges. We will report any conduct of this nature to the police.
7. No alcohol to be consumed at any stage of the event. Disqualified
8. Hands or head out of the car while moving. 2 minute penalty 1st warning. 2nd warning disqualified.
9. Excessive bumping of other competitor’s car 2 minutes.
10. Breaking speed limit zones 1st offence 2 minutes, 2nd offence 4 minutes, 3rd offence 10 minutes, 4th offence disqualified.
11. All drivers must hold a current Driving Licence.
12. Driving of track area 1st offence 10 minute penalty, 2nd offence 20 minute penalty, 3rd offence 30 minute penalty. 1 hour penalty for each additional offence. (The definition of driving off track is missing a section of track as defined in the track map.
13. This may be added to at any time.
SCRUTINEERING
1. Driver and/or co-driver must present their vehicle to the scenic rim adventure park at least one week prior to the event for inspection of the track. The track must be driven at slow speed with all the minimum requirements in or on the car.
2. There must be at least 2 cars together on the inspection run.
3. For interstate or long distant competitors, a list of previous competitions your vehicle has competed in must be forwarded. These competitors will be able to drive the track on the Friday before the event starts.
4. Co-drivers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian or parent or have written permission from them to compete.
BODY/CHASSIS
1. The vehicle must have a complete floor of adequate strength and rigidity supported within the driver/passenger compartment.
2. The vehicle must be fitted with doors or bodywork giving side protection to the driver and passenger.
3. If the vehicle is fitted with driver/passenger doors, hatchback doors, sliding doors, opening boots or tailgates, these must be secured in the closed position during competition.
4. Tailgates may be removed.
5. The load carrying area must be separated from the passenger compartment by an adequate barrier. All items in the passenger section must be secured.
6. All recovery equipment must be stored securely in or on the vehicle.
7. Must have a metal roof that covers the passengers and driver
BRAKES
1. The vehicle must be fitted with brakes that are operative and capable of stopping and holding the vehicle as required. Should the brakes fail at any stage of the track the car must pull over and repair the brakes? If the brakes have been crimped they must be repaired at the next pit stop. If the car has no breaks they must stop and call for a marshal to assist in getting the new bake lines.
2. A parking brake system must be fitted.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
1. Any wet batteries in the driver/passenger compartment must be enclosed in a securely located leak-proof container.
2. Batteries must be securely fastened and terminals protected from short circuiting.
3. The vehicle must be equipped with an effective horn or other audible warning device emitting a continuous tone. A loud whistle can be used to notify the car in front.
4. A battery isolator that cuts the engine is recommended.
COOLING
1. All fluid carrying lines or tubes carrying coolants through the driver/passenger compartment if non-metallic are to be internally or externally metal braided hydraulic hose.
EXHAUST SYSTEMS
1. The exhaust system must be isolated from the driver/passenger compartment. Fire proof rap can be used to lag the pipes
FUEL SYSTEMS
1. All fuel lines passing through the driver/passenger compartment shall be protected and, must be encased in a steel tube/welded hat section.
OIL COOLING SYSTEMS
1. Any oil lines passing through the driver/passenger compartment must be protected and, if non-metallic, be formed of internally or externally braided hydraulic pressure hose.
STEERING
1. All steering joints and couplings must be in serviceable condition.
WINDSCREENS AND SIDE SCREENS
1. Non standard Windscreens must be of laminated glass or plastic of a minimum thickness of 4mm. Plastic side screens, where fitted, should also have a minimum thickness of 4mm unless fitted otherwise by the original vehicle manufacturer. If a windscreen is damaged to the extent that that a hole is made the screen is to be removed at the earliest opportunity prior to continuing with the event. There must be some form of protection in the front window. If you have no front windscreen you can’t continue. (Cars in front can throw stones when spinning wheels)
2. Window nets must cover the opening for the driver and navigators windows.
3. If you don’t have a front window full face helmets must be worn.
SEATING
1. The maximum time for the driver/passenger to get out of the vehicle should not exceed 5 seconds.
2. Safety belts must be worn at all times during competition whilst the vehicle is in motion. The minimum requirement is a four point full harness, with four anchor points on the chassis/body shell or rollover bar of the vehicle on either side and to the rear of the seat.
3. The Navigators seat must comply to the above rule
WHEELS AND TYRES
1. The use of tyre chains is prohibited.
2. Minimum tyre size 35” diameter. Maximum tyre 48”
3. A spare wheel is not a mandatory requirement but, if carried, must be securely fastened.
ROLL OVER PROTECTION
1. No vehicle will be allowed to compete without some form of rollover cage. A manufacturer’s correctly fitted hardtop or Truck-cab shall be deemed insufficient. The impact load must transfer to the chassis. All cages must be braced to prevent crushing.
2. All drivers and navigators must wear crash helmets. Bicycle helmets for the navigators is ok. The drivers must have a helmet that covers the ears
Detailed Track Rules
Passing
1. The car that is in front has 30seconds to pull over and let the car behind pass.
2. The car behind must honk the horn or blow a whistle twice to notify the front car of the intention to pass.
3. Should the car in front not allow the car behind to pass. The rear car is to notify the marshal on channel 14 and notify them of the situation.
4. There is no overtaking in the speed limit sections unless the car is going 5km/ph below the limit.
Winching Passing
1. If a car is more than half way up the climb the car behind must wait for the car to finish winching the hill.
2. The car that is less than half way up the hill, has been caught during the winching must stop the winch. The car is to release the load. Once the load is released:-
1. The car that has caught up can then free spool the winch and begin winching.
2. Both navigators must be clear of the winch ropes.
3. Once the car is free and driving the car that was caught can begin winching.
3. If a car is passed on a winch hill it doesn’t have the right to pass the car in front until the next mapped section.
Rock Passing
1. There are multiple lines and you can pass as you see fit.
2. If there is a car winching, the winching car must stop and reduce the loaded cable for the other car to pass.
3. If there is a broken down car the chicken track can be used to get around the car.
Road Building
1. You can do whatever you want to build the road up. All material used to build the road up doesn’t have to be removed unless the Navi wants’ to.
Refuelling
1. There are 2 fuel spots as marked on the maps.
2. There will be 2x9kg extinguishers and a fire blanket at each refuelling spot.
3. The Navi or driver is to have one in their hand and stand 2m away while the other one fills the car.
4. No one is allowed in the car when refuelling.
5. The steps to fuelling the car is as follows:
1. The person pouring the fuel into the car, is to hold the jerry can and touch the metal on the car.
2. Undo the petrol cap.
3. Pour the petrol in.
4. Place the jerry can back in the waiting spot.
5. Put the cap back on the petrol tank.
6. If there is a petrol spill the liquid is to be washed away.
7. Teams are to have the following at the refuelling depot:-
1. Jerry cans with the type of fuel labelled with the driver name and competitor number. (These can be refilled during the race should a friend do a BP run. Must give friend name prior to start or they will not be allowed to remove the jerry can)
2. Fuel additives must be boxed and labelled
3. No NOS refills allowed.
4. LPG must fill up in a different area to the unleaded.
Track Time Register
1. There will be 3 track time marshalling registers. These will be marked on the track map
2. The drive/navigator will sign the card when available.
3. The 1st 8 hours will be the start finish register sign only.
4. The last two hours will see the track time register marshals at the other 2 stations requiring the drive/navi to sign and time mark.
5. In the event of 2 or more vehicles having completed the same amount of laps and are at the same track section area will be at the completion of the 10 hours. A final half lap drive off will happen.
6. Steps for signing the time card
1. On the completion of the lap. The driver will get out of the car and go to the time signing board.
2. There will be a clock with the time and the hours and the minutes will need to be entered.
3. Once the driver has signed the time card the marshal will verify the details.
Pit Stops / Finished Lap
1. Pit stops are unlimited.
2. If you fix the car you can keep on going
3. You will have a sectioned area for your parts and tools. This is not a secure area and the event organisers and the park owners will not be held liable for any loses.
4. You can borrow from fellow competitors with their permission. The borrowed parts must be logged on the marshalled parts list and names and signatures must be given. This will prevent any accusations at the end of the day.
5. At the end of each lap there is a mandatory 15min break. Time keeping steps.
1. There will be 10 or more stop watches on a board.
2. The Driver is to get out of the car and start the stop watch.
3. Once the watch reaches 15mins the drive will hand the watch to the Time marshal.
4. The Time marshal will sign the driver’s time card and the drive can then start their next lap.
5. If the driver forgets to start the stop watch they must start it from the time they remember to start the watch. The Marshal will not let anyone continue unless there is 15mins on the stop watch.
6. If there is a failure in the stop watch you must notify the Marshal immediately so he can continue the timing on his watch. Don’t try and reset the clock or your time will start again.
Track Recovery
1. If your car needs to be recovered you must ensure the car is mechanically sound.
2. If the cage is severely damaged the car will not be allowed to continue. This will be determined by the head marshal.
3. There will be a marshal recovery car and that car can be called on channel 14. The wait maybe long as the order of recovery will be as requested by the competitors.
4. You must have a working winch.
5. If your winch breaks during a loop. You must fix it or replace it at the next pit stop.
Spectators
1. If you see a spectator in the wrong position you must slow down and report the person to a marshal.
2. There will be 4 spectator points. These areas are shown on the track map.
3. The spectators will be kept either 70m away from the flat section of the track or high on the ridge with the cars crawling up the rocks through the creek sections.
4. We are mindful people want to get close to the cars but this is not acceptable for the competitors and spectators safety.
5. The Navigators have the power to ask and direct a wandering spectator to the correct spectating area.
6. If there are any issues with spectators the competitors are to let the marshals know on channel 14
7. There are two areas where spectators cross the track. This is in a speed limit zone and is marked on the track map. This will be a 5km section and the navi has to walk in front of the car. Those without a navi. It’s a 1st gear crawl.
8. These crossing areas are in the open with at least 100m of view.
Track Management
1. The track map will detail the following:-
1. Each of the 8 sections of the track.
2. The track sections will be colour coded
3. There will be speed limit zones marked on the map
4. There will be Marshal channels.
2. The track signs will detail the following:-
1. Speed zones
2. Section markers
3. Route markers
4. Distance markers to finish/start line
Competitors driving on the track
1. Must have a rear light that works.
2. Those cars that intend to be slow must turn on the rear light in the speed sections
3. Must drive with the front lights on.

I'm definately keen for this. Just for my own interestes i'd prefer to see the emphasis on laps and speed instead of hard crawling though. You already have a crawling/wheeling comp, I'd prefer to see something more along the lines of gymkhana, with some medium to low pace wheeling sections but not actually crawling.
Maybe not quite the canyon race at cruiser park, but similar to the cruiser park gymkhana with some slower sections. Make it an hour long with a pit break in the middle and should be awesome fun
just need to brace my housings

I'm sorry to say that it will the hardest rock crawling that I can find including a creek track that hasn't been opened up yet. There are going to be times you can give your big V8's a squirt but the emphasis is on hard tracks. We might only get 10 laps in in 10 hours. The guys at Scenic Rim might do a BBQ and have drinks so you can have a quick bite on the run. I'll wait and see the final format, but i reckon i'll probably give it a miss. Hard, hard crawling against the clock is a sure fire recipe for damage and rolls. Sure i'd love to do it, but i don't own a hammers truck or something i don't give a sh!t about. id like to see a superior style event with the relaxed rules.
some speed sections, about 50-100m long and turnes to slow us down. utilise some other parts of the park waiting to be driven. throw in a few hills. a trip thru the rocks with bonus lines over the hard stuff for the crawler type cars but focus it more on keeping it moving thru the faster stuff.
maybe run 2 or 3 seperate tracks about 5km long for the morning than reverse it in the afternoon..
have all car types on same course and bypasses for the modifyed cars so they can run as well. and just do it as a timed event with bonus points or panalities for each car/ class
what do you think.

I was thinking of about June / July. What events are around then? I don't want to clash with other events. EDIT: We are now talking about May but we will let you know when the date is set.
Between Christmas and new year I will have the DVD of the King of the Hammers playing in the shop between 9am and 12pm. (and other times) It is the King of the Hammers that is my inspiration for this event.
I expect the winners to be the Toughest 4WD or buggy in the country. I recommend at least 37" tyres but I know some vehicles are very capable on less.
Between Christmas and new year I will have the DVD of the King of the Hammers playing in the shop between 9am and 12pm. (and other times) It is the King of the Hammers that is my inspiration for this event.
I expect the winners to be the Toughest 4WD or buggy in the country. I recommend at least 37" tyres but I know some vehicles are very capable on less.

Give it another 6 months of competition and you just might own a truck you don't care so much about. Maybe not quite the canyon race at cruiser park, but similar to the cruiser park gymkhana with some slower sections. Make it an hour long with a pit break in the middle and should be awesome fun

At about dinner time we will have about an hour and a half break though. At the same time gaps that people come into the pits we will let them go.

I have got the track finished and we will allow drivers to drive it the weeks before.
The event will be $100 with every car having to run the track at least once before the event at a slow pace.
We will also be having a track that will be driven when you visit for your slow lap which will work out the starting times.(poll position)
The rules will be up soon, such as
What if you catch someone and they are blocking you?
Answer:- the car that is caught has to let the other car pass. The car that has been overtaken, can't pass the car that has overtaken them untill they reach the next marshalling point. These will be the rules with questions and answers.
Marshall channel is 13
We are hoping to have a FM station up and going which will allow for commentary from the marshalls.

Yes that is extreme mod/outlaw,buggie truggie. If you have have a close look at it we're just missing a few pannels and about 300m of chassis at the front and around 500mm at the back.
