The power steering hose blew on the TB42 Mav yesterday. It is the hose that is easily seen from the side of the pump looking from the passenger side.
Timing sucks but it means that I can't do all the chores I...um..promised.

Is it the high pressure side? If it's the low pressure side, anything will do - rubber hose with hoseclamps.
If it's the high pressure side take it to Enzed/Pirtek/any place that does hydraulic hoses, and they will replace the hose but use your old fittings for (probably) under $50. Probably while you wait.
Auto trans fluid for the refill.

You must use hose that is suitable for ATF. But I went and had a look and it turns out that I used official "power steering return hose". I don't even remember buying it but I must have been smarter that day I've got a bit left too.

I took it to Enzed today in Dandenong and they replaced the high pressure hoses (pump and box.)
The problem that I now face is thus: Regarding the hoses that are bolted to the steering box.....there is a tab on one of the hose ends .
Looking at the box from the front of the vehicle which hole is the high pressure fitting. Left or right.
Does the 'tab' lock the hose to the trailing of the box when tightened.

I know the tab on the pump end locks the fitting so it can't rotate with the banjo bolt. There is a u-shaped tab sticking out on the pump that the tab locks into.
I did not think there was a tab on the box but I would imagine that if there is a tab it would work in the same way as the pump end.
Can't help you on the other question, my manual is silent on this and simply says "remove the two banjo bolts".

Thanks Jason, my manual is also silent on the issue. I had hoped that the repairer hadn't switched the fittings over during the process. I am guessing that the HP fitting is attached to the left hole and the low pressure is the right one. 50/50 guess. Will have to suck it and see, unless a member can check their GQ and confirm which hole is the HP fitting and the relationship of this tag.

Cheers...but i have solved it. Visited a nissan dealer and the GU ( same as GQ) has the HP on the left closest to the guard. It is on now and nearly complete. Going to clean up the radiator, change the thermostat whilst I have the radiator out.MICK77 wrote:I will check mine when I get home for you RN.
