Jesus dude. Speel chekker pleeze

It's definately school holidays.

Since when is having a similar event to the hammers "us beccoming like the yanks?" Does that mean that because we race the Finke that we're just trying to be "baja wannabes". or is it that we're all trying to emulate Dakar euro trash.

Are you calling it g a y because you don't have the manstones to go in it? Have you competed in ANYTHING??

You sound like an armchair expert to me

Helmets are compulsary and cages. If you don't have a cage, bring your junk to the shop and we can make one for you.

There are going to be plenty of areas to show off your acceleration but the only desert is in Beaudesert :? We are more interested in hard core wheeling rather then doing 200km an hour.

This is a different comp. So far there is no classes. I might chuck a class or 2 in closer to the event.

I should have realised by the Need Help user name that it was Matt try to stir me up. Are you seriously going to try and run this track with your GU Wagon. The creek run that you know is the easy section although you probably are crazy enough. I heard you were getting some 35" Trepadors.

Yes and no. I have edited the title to better describe what the event is about. Double EDIT: Title changed again, it has a better ring to it.

The winner is whoever does the most laps wins. This means that the faster you go the better. In king of the hammers they travel a couple of hundred k's in the desert before they even hit the rocks. Not what we are doing.

Our event will be about 50% trails and 50% hard core.

You can be fast in the rocks and slow in the speed section and win or a bit slower in the rocks and faster in the speed section and win.

I think being more capable in the rocks might be the key though.
You might even find that the winch challenge trucks with the quick winching will have an advantage. Everyone will have their opinion.

After I go through the tracks myself I will update my opinion.

I am thinking the new 2 speed Tigerz11 winch for the overall winner. EDIT: However prizes undecided.

Matt I hope you have plenty of batteries because you will have to winch yourself right around the course after you trash it on the first lap.

The track will have a number of speed limit signs due to dangerous drop offs. The speed sections will be really fast and the hill climbs will be a sight to watch. The faster the winch the better off you'll be.
The track is as follows:-
Start flat and.
830m hill climb easy
660m speed limit area due to steep cliff
2500m no speed limit
749m max 30km doen hill
380m rocky descent steep
320m hill climb
550m 15km speed limit due to 5km spectator crossing
765m no speed limit vertical descent and hill climbs crossing the gully. Rocky boulders in the gully
30m 5km speed limit due to 40m cliff next to the road
200m hill climb 15km per hour steep drop off
305m 20km per hour step drop off easy drive
260m very very steep descent with near vertical drop for the last 20m may need to turn around and winch down backwards
240m rock boulders
750m no limit small rocks
302m rock boulders
306m no limit
The start and finish may vary by 300m-400m.

The cars will have to be reliable to finish the track.
Every 2 laps will be a manditoray 20min rest break and there will be a fatigue test.
Navi's will have to be fit as this will be extremely tough on them. I have walked the course and i'm almost back to what i was like when i was a teenager. Don't worry it won't require spelling.
Navi's will require helmets and we would prefer mic'ed helmets for communication as the navi's will need to hands.

I'll be a navi if shane doesn't need me as a marshall.

can we keep the chat to peoples questions about the event humor is fine but we would like to get all concerns from those looking to compete. Safety is a concern for me so we'll be looking for those who are currently running comp trucks as I need the safety list to take to our insurance company.

So does that mean that a lap is 9.5km. Any idea how long will it take to do a lap?

Also can we please have some volunteers as Marshalls, relief Marshalls and other volunteers to help keep it safe. Please send us an email if you are interested. Food and drink will be supplied of course. trade@suspensionstuff.com.au

Cheers

I can run/walk the track in 1hr 30mins. The first hill is a killer when you run and stuffs you for the rest of the run.
I recon the track will take around to 1-1.5hrs for the loop.

Will an exo suffice for the cage? Also the speed limit may be a concern for those of us without a speedo :?

I could possibly have a rig back together by the time this is on. My biggest concern with an event like this covering so much area at High Speed is how you plan on controlling spectators. The last thing any of us want to do is come around a corner full noise and clean up someone or even worse someones child. There really needs to be absolutly no spectator access to any part of the course.

Im not overly concerned about any other aspects of the event. But unless spectators issues are addressed very well ill prob just sit back and watch.

Maybe have 10 or so spectator area's, these obviosly will need to be able to be driven back and foward from th office with out crossing the track or have a marshal at any crossing at all times. My rebuild should long be done by this event which i'd love to have a crack at.

There will be 4 areas for spectators and the spectator viewing area for the speed section is on a ridge and 400m away from the track. The 4 spots will be high on the ridge looking down at people.
2/3rds of the park will be completely closed. Spectators on the high section will be walked in with a marshal.
This event will be for the drivers and navi's. You can run with 2 navi's and the navi's can drive shift changes if you want.

Why run with 2 Navi's? Its only 10 hours.

I also think you may need to think about large buffer zones in other areas other than the high speed zones. I guarentee if this is all about who does the most amount of laps wins your going to have some areas you would normaly not concider being able to be driven fast getting driven real fast. Especially if you get a few light weight buggies turn up.

That is not a problem because there will be no one anywhere near the speed track even marshals will be protected. As i said 4 areas of which the spectators section will be about 30-40m. View about 150m-1km
