There's been quite a few ls2 6litre conversions done by now and i was after any info about power steering pump mods.
I'm going to buy a new pump, pull it apart with help from a mate and see how much i can increase the flow and pressure by and was wondering if anyone has already done this.
The pump will be used with a GU steering box, have a mininum 2L tank and a pwr oil cooler and spal 12"thermo.
Also, can any one explain the flow of oil through the GU box and maybe suggest any mods that will reduce friction/heat as boiling ps fluid appears to be a real problem with these setups.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
cheers smitty

Yeah mate they boil the fluid if all you do is increase the pressure without the flow.
I found out some interesting info yesterday from Darren Webster. There are a couple of different types of powersteering pumps for the ls motors, one of which you can increase the flow capacity and one you cant very easily.
I had a quick look at the internals of the standard one it doesn't look like it can be machined out easily.
The powersteering pump that can have the orrifice size increased comes from the chevy suburban i've been told.
Has anyone else played with these.
cheers smitty

i'm currently on holiday in the states and when i dropped in to kartek offroad, i was told they don't run the LS pump, they all use an aftermarket pump, with a remote res. pump usd $200 and brackets and pulley about usd$150.
