With it load to the bream with gear and with out it realy isn't that bad. But i am used of driving around in my mates hilux with 10" of lift and when you go around a corner it feel like the sills are going to scrap the road.

hay mate i have a setup close to yours and my front shocks are 820 open and my rears are 915 open i move the tops of my shock towers up 150 in the front and 230 in the rear with raised lower mounts that alowes me to have great down travel and still has up travel to sit on the bump stops

That would be the idal way to ensure it were both durable, and installed correctly

Just a heads up to everyone. In early 08 purchased a 4-5" lift with flexy coils with 6" Adj. Tough Dog shocks as a KIT with superflex arms, drop out cones, panhards etc... from shane at suspension stuff, lengthened the bump stops like i was told . Within 3 months, 3 of my shocks were seized and 2 leaking!!!! And i was told from suspstuff that shocks at that length have no warranty. I have nothing against suspension stuff, in fact im very happy with most of there pricing but i wasnt even able to get discounted shocks, so i could replace them. Now reading these threads im really not sure.

Does anyone have or run 4-5" of lift with larger shocks?? Not including the very big spenders.

yeah im running 4" flexy kit with bigger procomps around 6" and they are good i like them. Just that its best to run rear sway bar on the road, and disconnects for easy removal at the tracks.

If you dont wanna spend big go pro comps, they can handle it. Had them in my old truck for years with various lifts with dents all over them & they still worked like new when it got stolen.
I had the same problem with you but with boss shocks, they didnt even last three months. Was told my bump stops werent long enough, so i just took it on the chin & learned from my mistake.
Ive got a pair of 2.5in FOA's for the rear now waiting to be installed & honestly the price difference isnt that much when you think about it. I got a pair of 2.5in emulsions in 14in stroke delivered to my door for $740. When you consider i payed $200 each for the boss shocks & the tough dogs are $250 each for the extra couple of hundred you get a far superior shock that is rebuidable & can be re valved to suit your needs, you should have them for ever. They make the boss shocks look like tooth picks. Ill never go back to that crap again, i learned the hard way.
Stick with FOA, fox & bilstein or something similar, its worth the extra dollars. My 2c worth. Cheers Loz.

I don't remember anyone talking about 4 stuffed Tough Dogs or even 2. (Though possible because when dealing with lots of people the memory gets spread thin). The leaking part would most likely have been due to not fitting bump stops. They have an external bump stop that is painted. When you send it back for warranty and the paint is worn away on the bump stop it is obvious to them that the vehicle wasn't setup correctly.

I would always give a heavy discount, generally to below cost price in this situation so sorry about that. Give us a call next time you need something and remind me of what has happened.

Tough Dogs stand up much better then the Boss adjustable shocks but there will be some very high quality shocks available in a few months with similar quality to Fox shocks so hold tight on the shock purchase department. We are now doing Fox shocks also for those who can justify $1790 for a set of 4 shocks. Price may change without notifying this thread.
