Warning light

Problem is that the ING red light has decided to come on, permenatly, even with the keys out of the ignition. Goes out once she's started. Also seems alternater isn't charging have to get hold ov a volt meter tomorrow too see what it's out put is but bty's just keep dying. Would low bty voltage cause the ING light?

probably the reg or a diode in you alternator, what sort of alternator is it ?

Something wierd happening. How can that light still be on with the keys out of the ignition??

Maybe your ignition switch is playing up.

Check the voltage first though.

i sometimes have this problem with my rangie but when the car is running hopefully all will be fixed when the 4.4 goes in

hope you get it all fixed and up and running soon!

It's a bosch alternater, seems to be wired up right, going through slowly and cleaning all the connections

You may have the light line and the sense line on the wrong terminals putting 12V to the light in the dash ??

Just ducked home and tested alternater with volt meter, putting out 11.4 volts bit of a pain. Replace?

We just had the sme problem on our work Rangie turned out to be the regulator

With the light staying on after the car was switched off & keys taken out,regulator is in the alternator :D

So can I replace the regulater, or is it just easier to swap out the alternater.

Only has a single output as opposed to the original one.

Regs are cheap and you should be able to swap them out, they are external and held with the of two phillips head screws.

Probably cost $20 - $30 ? (guessing here)
New bosch alternator would be between $150 - $250 ish

Look @ it this way, buy the reg, swap and check it out, if it is still broken
replace with another bosch, then you have a spare regulator :D

Guys thanks for the advice got me looking in the right direction. Found that the plug to the regulator had one of the contacts pushed in, :oops: so it wasn't completing the circuit, fixed that now all problems solved, bty charging and ING light is out, Thanks again
