12HT Laminova Aftercooler

Post by Toy12HT »

Has anyone had any experience fitting a laminova water/air aftercooler to a 12HT. Releated benefits/disadvantages to a air/air aftercooler. Fittting problems as a front mount. I understand Dieseltech have had some great experiences with a Patrol?

Bit of both, Im after a little more poke with a reduction in my EGT's. I have horses and just about everytime the Toy comes out on the road its working pulling a load. A front mount bar and plate is an option but the results dont seem to be as impressive as the Laminover air/water.

If your not doing slow mud bogging and crawling you dont need water-air.

If your spending alot of the time onroad towing, a front mount or top mount air-air will be fine.

Top mount will give you the best response but have less heat transference

Front mount will remove the most heat of the 2 air-air setups but will increase your lag from the extra pipework.

I'm having Matt McInnes make one for my 12HT at the moment. He started on it around the end of November, so it should be here soon. I'm not sure what model cruiser you have but mines a 40, so once I've fitted it and got it running, I can tell you how it works out for a 40 series.

Thanks Shaun, I read the thread with interest regarding Matts skills at fabricating these laminova intercoolders for a GU Patrol. They had some great results but seem to be still fine tuning. I wonder if they have got to the design that they're happy with and what the final results have been. I have a 88 61 series 12HT. Its only got 155,000 (first time around) on the clock. Where is Matt based, do you have any contact details? Thanks Justin

Without wanting to knock Matt's laminova gear, they havent done any direct comparisons with air to air on the same vehicle that I know of. It would be interesting to see this done.

Prety sure Matt is melbourne based. Best bet would be to PM Matt

Our first Air to Air and Air to water comparison is likely to be a ZD30 for before and after data. We have a kit going out in the new year.
