being a vehicle theres always something else. wouldnt mind bigger tyres. adjust the auto clutch to let engine spin up a bit more before engaging or a bigger donk as i do like how the clutch locks up real early.

trying to teach boy to hit things hard but it never worked. he is going to be the drive it slow and crawl type i think. in fairness which i didnt realise until i jumped in at end it wasnt reving out prob due to old feul.

Looks fantastic mate.

Did you get the front driving yet??

If you were to start making it these days, would you make it differently??

How much do you reckon it owes you??

What is the chassis made from?? I can see from the early pics, that there looks to be a fair bit of 25x25 SHS in the frame.

not driving the front yet. other projects come and go which makes it impossible to do any more to it. one day ill find something laying around and think thats what i need.

yeah i would do things diff. i think i would set it up where the centre of the diff would be fixed. sort of like the pinion is the pivot point. one tail shaft running between front and back diffsstraight through with say a sprocket in the middle running to gear box. one diff i can flip to make it all spin the right way. this way i can have a easy 4wd and the diffs can articulate using suspension but just dont move up and down. may even do this eventually to this one.

i did a rough count on parts and i think it was 5-6k. labour doesnt matter. the whole thing was on and off over 5 yrs and i rolled my troll at one point so i had nothing else but this at one point.

the whole frame is 20mm rhs with big bits here and there. fibreglass body. was good all i had was a $80 arc, 4" grinder and my 18v battery drill to make it. the metal lathing etc was done when i got a maintenance job at a factory which gave me access to there big machines. oh the best bit was i was paid to work on it. that felt nice....... ;)

tomorrow but i dont think any one could justify what i would charge. did think of a basic one for the daughter in pink with no susp and chain drive front and rear.

Would it work with 1 long chain going around front and rear sprockets, with a centre sprocket attached to the gearbox/motor??

Could you use a wrecked quadbike or something for suspension bits??

Id love to make something like this for myself, err, I mean the kids.

It could definitely be worth looking at the front drive of 4wd quads. You could build this into a solid housing to keep the same sort of look.

not with the chain as there always pita. the idea is to use my rear diff, put a centre in the front one but flip it upside down. join the front diff pinion to the rear as one solid unit. the only movement would be twisting, aka susp movment or drive to wheels. stick a big sprocket on the tail shaft that links both diff together then i can run a chain upto my existing gear box. presto 4wd + susp movement. i can prob adapt something into what i got to make it work but it takes to much thinking at the moment. i did entertain all sorts of things and i could of made this alot easier if i went to independant then it would be a peice of pi55 to have 4wd but i simply couldnt do it cos GQs are solid axle and it would of been like breaking one of the commandments or something..........:)

now i dont have trolls and have a lux im tempted to build something based on the current luxes.

have a look at the rear drive of an IRS quad and you could use that as your common shaft between the front and rear diffs. Having the sproket in the center with a chain drive from the motor and then the independent drive shafts going front and rear. That way you can have the diffs moving independent of each other.
