Currie® High-Pinion Third Member Assemblies

Custom-built by Currie to the highest standards! The Currie® High-Pinion Third Member features the finest quality components such as Timken® Bearings and National® Oil Seals. Each Third Member is custom assembled by experienced technicians at the Currie manufacturing facility in Anaheim, California. Currie offers extensive combinations of nodular gear cases, ring & pinion ratios and companion flanges for every applications.

Currie® High-Pinion Gearcase for FORD®Housings

The Currie® High-Pinion Center Section in a 9"TM Ford Axle is the "ultimate" rearend for your Jeep! If your Jeep is lifted enough for serious off-roading, the drive angles can be radically affected creating a stress on the U-Joints and bearings. The Currie® High-Pinion (CHP) reduces driveline angles and increases ground clearance, plus it is stronger and more versatile. The CHP input shaft is 2.750" higher than the Dana Rearend and 3.5" higher than the Standard 9". The CHP utilizes a Ford® 9" housing. The Nodular iron case is assembled with Chromemoly caps and billet spanners. The case is CNC precision machined and designed to be the strongest, most ridged housing on the market. Special oil ports are designed to lubricate bearings and gears unlike the Dana44 and the Dana60, which are made for frontend use and do not provide adequate lubrication. This is a dramatic improvement!!!

Currie® High-Pinion Third Member Parts & Components

Example of a Currie® High-Pinion Third Member part number...

The easiest way to "build" a custom part number is to use our Custom Third Member Calculator, or insert the ratio in front of the part number as listed below.

CHP-355OD31A
This is a 355 ratio, with an OD Carrier, a 31 spline shaft, and an "A" for a 1310 Companion Flange.

Ratio Carrier Spline Yoke
3.31 DL =Detroit Locker 28 A 1310 Companion Flange
3.55 OD =Open Differential 31 B 1330 Companion Flange
3.73 AL =Air Locker 35 C 1350 Yoke Flange
4.11 SP =Spool
4.56 TT =TrueTrac
4.85 AU =Auburn
TL =Traction Lock
LS =TSD Limited Slip
DH =Detroit Locker (Big Journal)

These are the more popular CHP combinations.
CHP ___OD28A 28 Spline, 4 Spider Open Differential $955.95
CHP ___OD31A 31 Spline, 4 Spider Open Differential $1,049.95
CHP ___TL31A 31 Spline, Traction-Loc Differential $1,269.95
CHP ___LS31A 31 Spline, T.S.D. Limited Slip Differential $1,259.95
CHP ___TT31A 31 Spline, TrueTrac. Differential $1,369.95
CHP ___AU31A 31 Spline, Auburn Differential $1,249.95
CHP ___AL31A 31 Spline, ARB Air Locker $1,589.95
CHP ___SP35B 31 or 35 Spline, Lightweight Spool $1,089.95
CHP ___DL31A 31 Spline, Detriot Locker Differential $1,299.95
CHP ___DH31A 31 Spline, Detriot Locker with HD Bearings Journals $1,359.95

In the HP 9" they actually use a 8.8" ring gear. So all the ratios avail to the 9" rear can not be used
